datzenmike
Geezus wayno that was close. I put some fiberglass bats in the ceiling and used a paper filter. I have a whole box and ear plugs so no excuse for not using them. If I was 20 I never would have. Times change, it felt weird but glad I did, washed my clothes after too. Seems like when you get older the universe is out to kill you. I've heard of someone almost killing themselves spraying brake cleaner while welding. The heat and the metal (maybe aluminum?) cause a chemical reaction producing phosgene gas? 1 Quote Link to comment

Way back, like pre 1960s, New York City subway cars all had Carbon Tetrachloride fire extinguishers. Recalled because they too decomposed to Phosgene gas with exposure to heat. Good news, you didn't die in a fire. Bad news, you're dead anyway. By the way, hot steel acted like a catylist and made the reaction that much faster. slowlearner
I once spent a summer modding a VW dune buggy body. Nothing worse than fibreglass itch. 😷 1 Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
When you clean up, use the coldest water you can stand. It closes up the pores to help keep the strands out. Hot water will make you itch way more. 3 Quote Link to comment
