philcas1987
That's great! I'm frowned upon for taking a cut off wheel to my cherry trunk pan lol seam seal both sides after welding. I would Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
Yeah, I'll grind the welds down a little and seem seal everything on both sides. Then por15 Quote Link to comment
izzo
Dunno if i would put por15 over the seam sealer.... Quote Link to comment
philcas1987
People restoring cars seam seal then por15. Either foot while its tacky or dry then sand it. Quote Link to comment
izzo
Didn't know that, thanks Phil :D Just curious tho, why would one want to seam seal it if they are going to use por15. Does it help make it more smooth looking when you do the por15 (almost like body filler)? I thought por15 worked best on bare metal. Like if theres seam sealer in there, then it has a spot to trap moisture? Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
Hmm. Didn't think about that, as long as it is a full coat moisture shouldn't be any issue underneath it if their is sealer or even primer, just have to be certain its a totally clean and dry application Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
Did a bunch of welding and we had to tap every inch into place. Slow going at first but we almost finished all of it. Thx izzo. Quote Link to comment
izzo
Np man. I think next time i come down it will go easier since we know what works and what dont  ill slice my door up and run a few beads on that and dial it in. Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
Yeah I don't think their is much need, we foun what works for next time, it looks really good. I'm goin to cut some more metal out and get the replacement ready for next time. And I'm still working on my welding, maybe next time you can beat the shot out of the metal with a hammer while I weld it in. Hahahahahahahaha But it was a load of fun, can't waitto hang again izzo!!!! Quote Link to comment
Jester
Come on guys......you know how this works, we need some pics!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
izzo
Come on guys......you know how this works, we need some pics!!!!!! Nothing pic worthy man. There was to much of a gap to get any real welding done. Its just basically tacked into place. Once i go back down there and we hammer the stuff flush, get some more welded... I think he is going to seal it too before pics. Welds came out kinda ugly, and burned a few holes cuz of the gaps :( Where it was flush, went real smooth Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
It went ok after about 30 minutes of trial and small errors here and their, and I'm looking for seat mounts if anyone has some, the mounts that are welded to the pan, my old ones where rusted through and totally beyond repair Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
PM sent about the parts... Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
Well. Canby was last weekend, Vegas is next weekend, so I'm hoping I can get some shot done the following weekend Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
Hey izzo, when can you make it back over? Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
Ok. I was actually able to get into my garage yesterday and today. I'm waiting on sheet metal from my cousin for the rest of the pans, So I took some scrap metal and measured it up, and filled in the huge gap in passengers rear wheel well. Over all it's about 6.375" more room all the way around, I almost got the wheel well totally level "meaning the wheel well never drops before it turns into the fender. After some measuring I would be able to fit 19" rims in the back " I'm not going to but I could  " Again my welding skills suck and the metal burns through really fast but besides one small 3.50" line the rest is almost totally seemed in. Here are the pics That was the gap, now here are my crappy welds, it doesn't look great but it will deff hold And now that I'm working days at my new position at work I'm hoping to be able to get a small amount of time each day to work on her. Thx for reading. Quote Link to comment

Rustina 510
Had a major snag in project finances, I'll still be working on her but no more buying parts for a while "8 months or so" but I'll still be able to do the body work and welding Quote Link to comment
