elmerfudpucker
white? sounds like coolant, check your water. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
What does it smell like? Quote Link to comment
ricky
I'm not sure it don't smell like oil and I know people hate being behind my car when it happens Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Compression check your motor ;) They also sell ( or use to sell ) kits that you could test for exhaust gases ( percentage/content ) in the cooling system ,,, lil lab kit for like $30 ? ........ ( to see if you have blown head gasket , leaky , or something else possibly ? ) What is your driving style ? ( be honest ) Shift Points ? How big are the clouds or "poofs" ? Pure White ? ricky
Well I have only had car about 3 months and it has done it ever since I got and it feels like I shift at about 4k but I don't have an rpm gauge Quote Link to comment
ricky
Large puffs of smoke Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
if you can afford to ,,, if it were me ( just being honest ;) ) ,,, I would stop driving the car until figuring it out ,,,, Datzenmike could tell you better than I could ,,,,,, I would highly suspect a leaky-head-gasket , cracked head , or hopefully a common silly problem on the 4cyl L-series ;) I always assume the worst though ,,,, what's your coolant level at ? Use much ? Color ? Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Large puffs of smoke For sure White ? Or is it Blue-ish Puffs ? ( light blue ) Gray ? Quote Link to comment
ricky
It could be light gray Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Running a bit rich ? Smell like gas a lil much ? ( raw fuel smell always or bad ) You step on throttle 1/2 off line ? Quote Link to comment
ricky
You know guy a got it from says it runs rich. And it dose smell bad kinda gives me a headache. I don't understand last thing you said Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Last statement I said ---> when pushing on throttle ,,, do you push harder than needed ( 1/2 way or more ) Ok ,,, yeah it's probably just a gas issue ,,,, your running rich more likely than not ,,,, Forget the coolant issue for the moment ( white smoke is water ) ,,,, datzenmike is guru at this stuff ,,,,, What Kind of Carb do you have ? ( weber , hitachi , sidedrafts ? etc... ) Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
ima let datzenmike finish helping you ;) ( he can explain better than I ) :D Quote Link to comment
ricky
Weber and dude said it has an l20 cam but I can't confirm that. I would say 1/4 up to half throttle Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Have you checked your oil level? Not over filled? How many miles can you go before adding a quart? Do you check your rad level.? Does it need to have water added? How much a week? Quote Link to comment
ricky
Both stay good I never have to add water and I haven't since I but the right oil in it. When I got it had 1030 and I had to add about once a week to once every 2 weeks I now use 20 50 and I don't have to add at all. I still check it all the time Quote Link to comment
Braden
you should run hash oil and then stand behind your exhaust and inhale, kinda like a big datto vaporizer!!! fuck yeah 4 Quote Link to comment
Mini-L320
WHite Smoke= Burning Coolant Blue/Gray= Burning Oil If you were running rich smoke would just be Black. Have someone in the back and check exhaust and rev the snot out of it and see if you see any type of liquid flying right out Quote Link to comment
