datzenmike
The Prince Motor Company. At the time of their merger with Nissan in '66 they were producing copies of 4 and 6 cylinder Mercedes engines under license. The L is based somewhat on improvements and changes made to those designs. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
They are masters at it! The J12s are almost copies of the Austin motor as well as the Hitachi SUs. The list is endless. We make it..... they make it better. (that's good for us) Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I think there was a content law at the time. if a car was imported it had to be assembled in country. Usually start as knockdown kits then as time goes on souces in house or in country. The Japs copied alot of British stuff. Mishibishi made the williys up to 1996 in Japan CJ3B http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/World/Japan.html Made in India also http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/World/India.html http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/World.html Quote Link to comment
