  1. It seems like such a long time ago that I first saw this car for sale - how long has it been off the road?
  2. I did a google search for this company when I saw that they listed 710 fiberglass parts, and the results are enough to scare anyone away. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=344664 http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/just-so-everyone-warned-about-company-showcars-unlimited-92645-6.html http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=5087428

I remember that old post had some really tidy workmanship! ...so if tracking down a bumper in Japan or Mexico isn't an option the do-it-yourself route can lead to some excellent results.

I remember seeing a post a long time ago about making a new smaller rear bumper for an orange 710 wagon out of fiberglassed foam - maybe it was here on Ratsun?

I still have a spare badge for the sedan/wagon grille, but not the coupe grille.
  7. This thread reminds me of one of my favorite movies - Christine - where a car was fixed up maaagically fast, aided by a big pile of parts:

    Heyyyy... Where'd that come from?
  9. Sir, you waste no time. Did RedBanner have the windshield?
  10. I usually just start pulling the badges off by with a guitar pick or fingernails or something else that won't scratch the paint. As you pull the badges out, go slowly, and try to keep the badge parallel to the surface of the body - if you pull one side more than the other, the pins could get bent and break off.
  11. Ah, rats. school made me totally lose track of time!
  12. Pumpkin Dave got some parts off of a junkyard 710 hardtop for me a couple months ago - if it is still there maybe it could be the source for a window.
  13. I'm pretty sure that the red wire on he tach hooks up to a red wire that is coming out of the top of the gauge cluster. Do the connectors match up?
  14. The box under the seat is the starter interlock. It is a device that wouldn't let the car start if the seatbelts weren't buckled. It's probably already been disconnected - everyone hated them at the time, so that's why they were only in cars from 1974
  15. I thought that they were F10 vents at first, but nope - not a match. The F-10 ones are functional though - they were from too much heat due to all of the emissions junk.
  16. I went to work on a summer internship in Germany, and thought that I had traveled to a land where Ratsun was banned. Good to see that is not the case! (and I haven't seen any German Datsuns yet.)
  17. I know someone that has the trunk trim piece - I'll pm you their e-mail.
  18. yep...looks nice and stock and well maintained - they even bothered to replace the front seat covers at some point.

I'm surprised that it took so long to find one painted violet! I guess that you don't need to go crazy with the paint color on a 710 since there is already so much interesting stuff going on with the body design.
  20. That looks like the start to a fun project!! I'm wondering if it will end up as a custom, or a curiosity piece in a Nissan dealership.

    You're turning violet, Violet! http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u41397090
  22. When I drove cross-country, a wiring diagram came in pretty handy for troubleshooting problems! - you can download the whole .pdf for your truck over here: http://www.datsun510.com/manuals/Service_Manual_Datsun_Pick-Up_Model_521_Series_Chassis_and_Body.pdf
