Hmmm a quarter? I would have never thought of that. Maybe some JB weld will seal okay around it. The rocker cover was originally a blue-ish, but was in crap condition so I painted it a metallic silver, then stripped it and painted it the reddish orange that you see there. I'm going to strip it one last time and spray some metallic silver lacquer base with clear just to look a little different. You think it would be possible to smooth the surface of the intake manifold enough to be able to polish it up really bright? I thought it seemed like a neat idea

That's correct. She's a nice healthy A15. Will be much nicer after all the EGR piping is blocked and I can clean up the crappy nonsense in the head.

The car is in beautiful shape, but as stated above, just looks neglected. Only problem is that if the car has sat without movement for a long time, even being indoors, you can encounter tons of problems just trying to push it hard once. The car needs some TLC and lots of it. Start with a good assessment of all the problems. Make a list, do some research on replacement parts, and bring it up with the seller. The more problems that are presented, the more likely you are to get a better deal out of it. Trust me, you will love that car hands down. It's just going to take time and dedication getting it back where it belongs. As far as the blue smoke, that is related to oil entering the combustion chamber. Valve seals, piston rings, etc. Those are all possibilities. Although a little smoke is never going to be a major problem. My 210 smokes and it's valve seals. After a few sea foam treatments, it hasn't been as bad. But I also haven't put many miles on my car.

WOW this thread got away from me. Yeah, the shop didn't want to do it, and I've sourced a A14 head from Pull-A-Part and their pricing page says $32 and some change so thats way cheaper then any shop would pull it for. I'm not too concerned about having any milling done. I don't think theres much of a chance I'll be having a issue with head flatness.
