That would be me... I had a 68 KA swapped about 90% done then all kinds of personal shit went down, money dried up, engine had bad parts, etc. I scrapped the whole project in favor of a RUNNING L20 powered 69 510 with about 1120% less body rot. Still sucks to look at that classy 68 and know its become a donor and nothing more... Not trying to discourage you, but unless you can get your buddy to finish what he started, this is gonna be a ROYAL PITA!

I have a Z22 bottom end bored 40 over, sitting at my friends house right now, little rusty from sitting outside but everything was good when i pulled it a few years ago. Not the BEST offer, but if you want it, i can go get it. Dont need any L20's though... lemme know

Verify the timing with a gun, dont assume. I switched to EI waaaay back in my 68 510 and thought it was good, but it had exactly the same symptoms. Timing turned out to be way retarded

This car is IMPOSSIBRULY SIMIRAR to my 68 that i picked up waaay back in 2003!!! White paint, greay hood, smashed body panels, etc. Hate these threads, make me all nostalgic =(

Go figure, now my Hb AND 510 have leaky windsheilds... And i couldnt believe it in regards to the tension rods, its the first time I didnt have the right wrench/tool to do something. I FAIL ;P

97 HB 2wd 2.4L Hey folks, couple quick questions, anyone else have water dripping out o0f their heater fan? Its not coolant, cold, and clear water. is this common or is it possibly a windshield issue? The push in strip on the top of the windshield ripped out. Also, what the hell wrench do you use to remove the tension rods??? Want to install the moog bushing kit. Thanks!!!

Mind you, this weather is highly abnormal this time of year, norcal is mostly like southern oregon, lots of rain, snow, and then sunny in summer. Its supposed to snow in two days, go figure

Full valve job, minor port and polish, chamber/bowl work, competition valve springs, intake ports are now 1 3/8". havent measured the exh ones. Camshaft is a 'CalCams 27-D', Dave Rebello tells me its the milder of the two cams they usually use(hence the still-small ports) but its pretty mean for a 2bbl setup like mine. The head is built for the small-ish (1.9L) bottom end. Too much port, and you actually LOSE power.

Sadly no, engines at my friends shop currently, wont probably be running till some time in march. But I will be up there tomorrow, hey, can you ask James if he found me a heater core yet???
