  2. got the guy back on the road today, took like 30 minutes to put it in, and 5 of that was picking up the tools and throwing in the battery!! did i forget to mention that when the old man broke down some crackheads came in the store and then get arrested in the parking lot while i was taking out his alternator? im just glad 2 crackheads are off the street and the old 720 is back on it!!!!! hell yeah
  3. plug wires are in order, carb is a fresh rebuild, jets are stock jets, accelarator pump is good, i have gone through everything except timing, coil, and valves, the valves are adjusted from the factory as this is stock motor with 102k on it
  4. ok so i have a 77 620 with l20b, open chamber head, stock cam, fresh carb, no smog,, new plugs wires, cap, rotor and points, and new exhaust,my question is i had been running 87 octane, i stared running 93 and it runs like shit, i have adjusted the idle, choke and mixture correctly, and i checked the timing today and found it to be at like 5 degrees before top dead center?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! so i am getting ready to try and adjust the timing to about 12 degrees, i know some of you run 15 degrees? why do you run 15 degrees and could my timing problem and 93 octane be whats causing my truck to run like total shit? it has no power when i try and take off from a dead stop, (sometimes it quits when i try and pull out and ill be in the middle of the highway)and it sputters when i romp on it, it also backfires badly even though the mix is a little lean (2 turns out on the mix screw) ps, it backfired and sputtered when i was running 87
  5. so this evening at work (i work at oreilly auto parts), an old man comes into the store and informs me that he is broken down in the median of the main highway by my work and he needs a jump, i grab an optima red top off the shelf, and a set of jumper cables, we both go outside walk down the road to his truck and im suprised to see its a white 720!!! old nissan trucks arent very common around here so of course i had a smile on my face, i asked him if it was a 84, he said yes sir she is!!! he said damn son you must know your nissans!!! after we got the truck jumped off i get it into the parking lot and start asking him questions about his battery/charging system, he tells me his charge light is on and i ran and got the tester. after testing his battery and finding it to be good i tested his alternator and found it to be bad. i checked our inventory and i didnt have one so i ordered him for the next day. we get to talking and he is telling me his story, he said he is on his way to the hospital to see his best friend who is dying of cancer, me feeling pretty bad for this old dude at this point i give him my employee discount and get him the alt for about 35 bucks. i ofered to change it for him and he asked me how much it would cost him, i told him i would do it for free only because it was a nissan and i love em, he replied laughing saying he was soo glad he didnt have a ford lol anyways tomorrow i am installing an alternator on this old dudes truck to help him out (he said he would pay me anyways) i went ahead and took the old one off. i guess i earned my good samaritan award for the day, damn i love how easy it is to work on these things!!!!:)

  7. nice locating of the gauges, looks alot better than on the column or under the dash, nice radio placement too, i was thinking of taking out my stock radio and putting the cap in its place then using the console like you did for my cd deck, i have a nice alpine deck but im still too puss to go cutting on the center console!! lol hey rusty speaking of the cd player how about a pic of the cd player in the console from the back sideand maybe bow you cut it and mounted it, looking good as always

    backfire

    i too am having a problem with backfire, it doesnt do it except when under load, i just rebuilt the carb and removed all of the smog shit, im running stock hitachi, and the non heat riser manifolds, new gasket no intake leaks or anything, when i try and take off from a stoplight or when im driving under load it wants to spit and backfire, then when the motor winds up say, 3 grand it quits and goes fine, as long as im romping on it its fine but if i drive it easy it backfires and shoots flames out the tailpipe with that being said and excluding the possibility of intake or exhaust leaks, (just redid my exhaust) is timing the number one culprit? when i had the intake off i felt the intake valves and they were all intact, my guess is timing, also when i take off sometimes the engine feels like it is winding in a rubberband then if i hold it to the floor it will keep doing it, when it reaches a higher rpm maybe 3 or 4 grand it just takes off like nothing is wrong, now when it does feel like it is winding up i can let off the gas and ease back on it and it will quit but if i romp on it it will get worse, its almost like the engine is caught in a bad spot and it wont get out of it or make any power, also i have run 87 on up to 93 octane having worse issues with the 93

  21. how is the blower motor/heater system in it? its amazing those front turn lenses arent smashed all to shit!!! i also need a radio knob, and the little chrome accent piece on one of the air vents
  22. go drive one and i guarantee you will like it (dont kid yourself drive the 5.7 not the 4.7) yes some of the base models are kinda fugly but with the right set of wheels and the package with the painted bumper makes a world of difference, my dad bought one in 2007 we have loved it so far, towing power is kickass, passing power is kickass, stopping power is super kick ass, its funny when you pass people they are like wtf????? they sound good too, i took off the exhaust one day and ran it down the by pass, sonofabitch ran like a scalded dog and sounded like a stock car, they also offer the trd supercharger which WILL NOT void the factory warranty which puts it up to 504hp and i think 511 ft lbs of torque, not too shabby for factory options http://aftermarket.autoblog.com/2006/11/01/sema-trd-tundra-street-concept/1

    Oil cooler?

    rusty, i would say that the cooler would probably have some benefeits (longer oil life, cooler engine temp, etc.) but i beleive your truck would benefeit more from maybe an extra oil filter instead, that particular oil cooler i can get for you if you really want it, i get a really good employee discount at my work and i can get it cheaper that what it is up to right now, let me know if i can help, i can get you an oil filter relocation kit for 2 filters for about 75 bucks and 2 large k and n filters for about 14 bucks each
  25. for all of you titan guys, what size tires do you run on your 620? take into consideration i have a 3 inch static drop, i want to run a tire that protects the wheel from curb rash as much as possible, i hate it when the rim sticks out past the tire, i have seen several of you guys on here that had the size tire i want to run, also it needs to have almost as much profile as possible i dont want rubberbands
