  1. Your interior is super clean. Mine's in bits. I had almost the same horn configuration for my horn. Moved mine to the steering column till I get a proper wheel. Which engine you running in that? Still running the 1.6?
  2. Hrmmmmm.... Maybe it was the roadster show in Solving... It would have to be as the Z show doesn't do the swap meet thing at the show itself. http://www.solvangroadstershow.com/ Crap, I do so many car shows a year, getting tough to remember. My bad.
  3. I found one at the swap meet thing there 2 years ago. Might've got lucky, but it's always worth a look.
  4. Thanks for the input. Picture saved :) .
  5. Where are you located? In September there's a car show in long beach, the JCCS, Japanese Classic Car Show. They have venders that periodically have stuff like that. That's where I got my hood emblem. http://www.japaneseclassiccarshow.com/ If you're interested, there's a link for the show.
  6. Ya, it's a '72. I have an L20 in there currently. I know the trannies are all the same save for some minor differences. If I get the 510 tranny, will the flange just bolt over?
  7. Hello all. After looking a little closer at my trans, I've deemed it too far gone to be worth rebuilding. Cracked bell housing, the linkage is beyond shot, leaking from every seal and I think 4th has a chip as it's howling a bit. I plenty happy sticking with the 4 speed, but I'm having a hell of a time finding one. I've found loads for the Z's but have struggled to find one for the trucks or even the 510 for that matter. Are there any shops that carry our trannies? Rebuilt/remanufactured would be preferable. Any input would be fantastic.
  8. ya the air horn was a harbor freight special, and broken. And yes the whole steering rack assembly is pretty shot, not just the king pins. It's a work in progress. Hit a milestone. Hit 400mi on the new motor. Everything feels like it's starting to seat beautifully.
  9. My dealers will look 'em up... But usually can't get 'em
  10. That's in the works, but not yet. Honestly, strangely, I don't mind much going slow. But ya, I will be getting a bigger rear end to gear it up.
  11. My hitachi was completely shot. Swapped to a weber for that reason. Yours looks prestine though. Seriously unfair how clean your truck is lol. So the 520's had chrome handles...... Might have to look into that :)
  12. The maiden voyage has just been made. I work 25 miles from home and decided to take the truck. First time I've driven it more than 5 miles from home. Did the trip beautifully. What shocked me was how impatient people are with slower vehicles. I'm in the slow lane doing 55mph and people come screaming up your tailpipe... I'm in the friggin' slow lane, go around...
  13. Soooooo not fair how clean it is lol. Are those chrome inside handles stock? I've only seen plastic ones (which is what I have). How's cancer on it? Looks shockingly good in that fact.
  14. I'm diggin on the 14's you're replacing. Too bad you're half way across the country or I'd offer to buy 'em.
  15. I love my elephant ears :) . Spent today figuring out why my tail lights weren't working. Everything else, break lights, signals, reverse working fine. Found there was an open in the middle of the system. Fixed the problem by replacing the whole bloody wire. That was fun figuring out...
  16. Hey all. Been a while since I checked in. Truck is coming along nicely these days. Here's the laundry list of what I've done so far: Newly rebulit L20 dropped in Weber 32/36 carb Fancy air horn, makes it sound like a fiat :) New....ish rims with new rubber on 'em New clutch master, and slave Exedy stage 1 organic sport clutch New brake masters, slaves, hoses and shoes New shocks Gonna get.the windshield polished soon as it's in pretty rough condition. Also need to start replacing the front end bushings. Here's how she sits now:

Wait, you're car's a '71 and they inspected it? Isn't that a little illegal on their part? unless you're really loud, anything is legal for the most part.

    New Floor Help

Am I the only guy who's floor is hole free? Honestly that was the biggest selling point when I got my truck. Soooooo happy it came from the desert.
  19. No pics, but my first car was a 1990 ford aspire. 1.3 L POS. I swear the car was trying to kill me too. Got T-boned my first week out, and it almost crashed a few times as it handled like crap. It ended up commiting suicide as it took me off the road due to a flat taking out a sign post. My first motorbike I actually still have. It's a 1968 Honda z50. I plan on restoring it one day.
  20. I'm thinking about getting my hands on one of those if I can get it cheap enough. Main reason is to make a template out of it. I'm thinking about making some bumperettes either out of fibreglass or carbon fibre for fun. If they come out well enough, maybe even sell a few. I want to do this with both front and rear.

Is that across the street of some sort of UN building, or an IHOP? My first inclination is a possible jetting issue by the way you describe it, but it's difficult to say without diagnosing it further. Shoulda checked the plugs to see if it was running rich, lean or getting a good mixture. It's like taking it's temperature and is usually the first thing you want to do. You don't want to just throw parts at it if you can help it, especially all at once. If it gets worse or better, it makes it difficult to figure out, not only what the original problem was, but also any possible subsiquesnt issues if any new problems arise. By the by, are you running the stock Hitachi carb? Suckers are a bit of a bitch IMO, but if you're set on rebuilding it, the kits are pretty cheap.
  22. I remember this. It happened last year if I remember correctly. It was a Japanese super car club and full of shit drivers. One person made a mistake and everyone in line super over reacted and caused a massive accident. They had it on my local news here in California for some stupid reason. I went to the D1 and start of the Gumball 3000 back in I think 2006 or something like that. They had the cars do a parade lap and a few of them tried to pull donuts, and failed epicly. Just 'cause you can afford the car doesn't mean you can or should drive it.
  23. That's what I'm doing. I was just curious if there was a reason why it was different. You know, aside from poor manufacturing standards. And Mike, if you look at the non doubled hole, you'll see there's a lot more metal below the hole, that's hitting one of the front covers mounting holes.
