mainer311
If only gain is loosing points then go to junk yard and get an EI dizzy and matching coil.If my points are loosing, I should probably tighten them, eh? Is reading comprehension on this forum really this bad? How many times did I say I now have a matchbox w/ pedestal coming? Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
This thread reminds me of that Sopranos episode called "Mayham". Vaya con Dios con El Dizzy. Quote Link to comment
distributorguy
Yes RacerX you got lucky. Very lucky. Cores nowadays are junk from Cardone. The last 4 Datsun units I saw from them were DOA. Permanently. Unrepairable. Things got a lot worse now that they have no competition. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I cant find Matchboxes anymore in Junkyards and they are crooks . I always find stash of single point dizzys in a Datsun Hoarders garage somewhere Quote Link to comment

mainer311
I feel like every time I come on this forum, the 3 stooges each bought a Datsun and all ended up here. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
We don't have the luxury of going to the junkyard to find our parts up here in mass.. There's the internet, you're on it right now. Someone has one somewhere. Costs nothing to search and ask. 1 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
Just received a matchbox dizzy from a fellow rat on the west coast. Picked up a 0.70 ohm MSD Blaster 2 coil (overpriced yes, but we were having trouble finding another coil in the right range). Should be all set now. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
All stock Nissan/Datsun coils from '78 up are in range. 1 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
I went to drop the dizzy in, and the vac advance unit is so big that it’s a super tight fit against the upper rad hose. I ended up rotating it 180, but now the matchbox is by the exhaust manifold. I wonder if there is some way to fab up a heatshield. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Where the dizzy ends up pointing is immaterial. There will be at least 4 positions each at 90 degrees that will work. Try 90 and 270 degrees and move the plug wires around on the cap. 1342 firing order counter clockwise. Quote Link to comment
mainer311
The L-bracket on the bottom doesn’t really allow for that. The two arms on the L are different lengths so they can’t line up with both the hole in the housing and the hole in the pedestal. I can flip it over, but that gets me back to 180. datzenmike
I guess a heat shield then... Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Looking at these, I have an upper, and a stock lower left. The stock pedestal might actually work if I mount it backwards to rotate the matchbox a little further away. Quote Link to comment
