willz
Oics to come! Making a few trips to the store right now for some extra miscellaneous things I need. I'm going to go buy a 1/2" fitting to replace the 1/4" that was on the thermostat, the passenger side was a pain just to get the 1/2" tubing on. Had to heat it up for a while to get it to stretch. The 1/4" fitting on the thermostat will be relocated to the manifold for my vacuum to the brake booster and a 1/2" fitting will take its place. Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Just to clarify I wasn't taking about the hose diameter but the actual thread in the thermostat housing.. .. I can't remember off the top of my head what diameter the hose was... I thought it was 5/8 Id but I would just be guessing at this point.... Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Ok I think 1/2 was correct.. I think it was 5/8 going to my heater from the other port.. Quote Link to comment
willz
It's a 1/2" and 3/8". I couldn't find a 1/4" male with a 1/2" hose fitting so I had to use a double sided pex 1/2" to 3/8 fitting and then a 3/8 with a 1/4" male thread for the thermostat. I'll be cutting a 1/2" fitting and welding the barb on a 1/4" male thread though after I get it running Quote Link to comment

Crashtd420
It's definitely a good book if you plan on digging deep into your motor... there are two... one is how to modify, the other is how to rebuild... 1 Quote Link to comment

willz
Almost all the time... I even let her know I was picking up more fittings and tubing today But I guess it's all good, I've got two non running vehicles, one of which I still owe $5k on, the Datsun and a boat payment. Which I can't use because my tow vehicle doesn't run Quote Link to comment

Stoffregen Motorsports
My son's first word was truck. 1 Quote Link to comment
willz
Got the truck running last night. Time to fab up a throttle cable and linkage and do some tuning. So far so good though, revved it up and sounded good but you never know till you drive it and throw a wideband on it. I'll post some jetting/tuning info when I get there 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Good job... I can't wait to tune mine either... I'll be curious where you end up with on the jetting... I've still been debating on starting a post specifically on jetting a single side draft.. purely what is some one running that works none of that we should have ran a downdraft stuff... 1 Quote Link to comment
willz
Sidedrafts are sexy. Downdrafts are for aircooled vw's and muscle v-6/8etc motors..... although I saw a set of side drafts on a big block Chevy that looked pretty cool Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I like the look of a stock air cleaner under the hood. Modify the air cleaner base plate to fit the DGV without an adapter for a sleeper look. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Mike klotz did that with his DGV. cut out the stock aircleaner. Hoever might not work if you have a tall carb adapter and may hit the hood if a L20b installed Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Those tall adapters are good for HP, but yeah, they cause fitment problems. This is one that I modified for my 320. Quote Link to comment
willz
I'm originally a VW/Audi guy, so most of my builds tend to pull a lot from that "less is more" motto. Big on tucking wires, shaved bays, badgeless grills etc. The general idea is to make the engine bay more like these, but Datsun: Quote Link to comment
willz
Got a video of it running ^^ 1 Quote Link to comment
