That4doorKiD
I was tightening the middle nut to my headers and the stud was loose and sure enough it came out. Does anyone have sizes/SPECS to drill and tap the next size over for a new stud or maybe use a bolt. Thanks. Quote Link to comment

Draker
Since the torque on those bolts are so low.. I would just helicoil it. 2 Quote Link to comment
Eomund
Buy a tap and die set. If the stock threads are too mucked up, drill to a larger size, tap it and just use a good 'ol fashioned bolt, possibly with a lock nut to keep tention. This is a nust in case you havent done a tap nob before, keep cleaning, and keep it well lubed, pecerably with machine oil while tapping it. You'll get the best possible threads that way. 1 Quote Link to comment

Agreed, but low torque application.. a helicoil will hold. Timeserts are better, but it won't matter much here and helicoils are cheap Quote Link to comment
DanielC
The exhaust manifold studs are M8-1.25 If the headers do not fit right, you might be torquing the manifold too much, and damaging the stud. I am also a believer in using a stock exhaust manifold. They fit the head much better than headers, and Datsun uses a really good free flowing design for the stock exhaust manifold. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
keen serts are the best. look them up never liked helicoils. They might be OK if you dont have a water passage heated type head then they dont need to be super tight but if you get a water leak youll have to tighten till it stops leaking or till the coil pulls out 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I don't like helicoils either, but in this case, especially if a stud is used (not a bolt) it will be fine. The hardest part of the heli coil process is inserting the coil itself and breaking off the tang properly. It may take a coule attempts to get it right. And then once its in, use anti sieze on the threads. 2 Quote Link to comment
