alright guys, i need your help.

i have enough extra tools/parts etc for a 2 or 3 car garage,

but only a 1 car garage. (also doesnt help i have 4 cars.)

in regards to most of my hand tools, i have a huge peg board,

the real problem is the bigger items such as:

-2 spare transmissions (will be selling)

-engine stand

-extra L4

-engine hoist

-20+ sets of wheels/tires (will be selling most)

a quick google search led me to a few pieces of advice such as:

-go through all my stuff and try to cut the amount in half by

donating,throwing away, selling, etc.

i will be doing that, but i need to know what to do with all the parts i cant part with

currently looking for a 2+ car garage but until then i need ideas

also, ive determinded im not a hoarder, im a collector.

as im sure a lot of the old school datsun guys are.

also, money is somewhat of an option. i feel like a major organizer would

be shelving of some sort. but i need it to be sturdy, and not cost too much, preferably used.

i do have a few of the 'industrial' style shelving units, but in my current 1 car garage setup that wont

do because there wouldnt be any room for car to park in and open doors

ooooohk go

oh and pics of your garages are encouraged

So I have been telling my wife and kids for a very long time?  Now my kids are all much too grown up, but now want my cars and parts!  Don't give or throw away that your gut tells you it / they will be irreplaceable in 10 years [or more, a flexible horizon if you need justifacation].  You have a GREAT choice to be made, I have already made mine.  I can walk through my garage, anyone else needs a guide.

Find a place that sells used grocery store shelving,  it is not as wide the 4' industrial shelves but pretty dang strong and highly adaptable. I love mine

as for what i think about letting stuff go,, i'm afraid i wouldn't be much help there.

I built a 16ft x 8ft tall shelf, 3.5ft deep... bottom area is large enough to store transmissions standing up, and complete engines underneath, I have 4 or 5 of each... plus more than a few short blocks. Made simply from 2x4's and wood screws. On the side in an L shape is a 14ft work bench with drawers, and steel topped table for fab/welding.

I found that cool checkered banner on the side of the freeway and used it as a cover on the front of the shelf.

I have a 10x20 portable garage lined with shelving on both sides of he tent. I bought Costco shelves that are good for the heavier stuff like transmissions and heads. I also have metro shelves for the smaller stuff.. Next project is a 12x16 shed and than install a 2 post car lift where the tent was.
