Datsun620longbed
So today I got my 1977 datsun 620 longbed back from "Bills Datsun" he's a great guy and knows his datsuns. When I went to pick it up he told me that I would need to replace the front end (control arms and what not) and that I should just sell it because its going to be a too much to get replace :hmm: . My question for you guys is weather or not I should sell it and look for a new one or keep it and work on it. It may be a rust bucket, but its my rust bucket :D. So just let me know what you think. flatcat19
What is actually wrong with your control arms? Maybe your king pins are loose? Bushes torn? Nothing that can't be fixed. Get a second opinion. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Jack the front end up, put a couple of jack stands under it, pull the front tires and take some close up pictures of both ends of the upper and lower control arms. Need to see the bushings as best as you can. Post up the pictures here. If the control arms are wallered out or bent you will need to replace them. The only control arms I have ever replaced was do to being bent in an accident. Quote Link to comment
tr8er
I'll give you that second opinion. Mechanics are lazy. Fix it. Even if you want to sell it and move on, fix it first, then move on. Give her a chance of survival. 1 Quote Link to comment

The guy showed me what was wrong and they're all "through away parts now" as he said. it doesn't even have the right bolts holding it together and because of that the holes are ovaled and warped. Datsun620longbed
And flatcat19 this is the 620 with the street signs for floor boards. You responded to one of my first posts. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Also. DONT GO BACK TO BILLS DATSUNS!!!! The guy is a crook. Does ok ish work, but more times than not he makes new problems. There are enough stories about the guy to warrant not trusting him. I do find it funny how your opening sentence is defending Jock... He does know that this forum hates him. Where abouts do you live? There is a guy out here (Hillsboro/Beaverton) that knows his stuff pretty well and is often helping fellow Datsun owners. Sadly your truck is a 77, and has king pins instead of ball joints. They can go out, and are a bit more of a headache to change out. 2 Quote Link to comment

Datsun620longbed
Can someone give me a suggestion on where I could go to get a second opinion? Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Not sure where Milwaukie is in relation to Eagle_Adam, but he is in Oregon and has worked through a 620 or two and is a bit of a Datsun saver superhero. You might PM him, and see if he can help out or if he might no someone local to you. 1 Quote Link to comment

You responded to one of my first posts. If this is the truck I think it is... Is this a disc brake/ball joint truck? I second contacting EagleAdam. He is one of the best Datsun peeps this side of the other side-but he's pretty damn good over there as well. Adam will get you right. He is located out west. Hills/Beav area. Good luck.
