Lockleaf
you can try using patina preserver from Eastwood. It's specifically to protect and prevent water contact and corrosion. 2 Quote Link to comment
mhub91
I've heard that "rat-rod" VW guys use flax seed oil to preserve their home-made patina rust. Wonder if this would be more effective than clear coating? Anyway...... I made a headlight harness that's plug-and-play for the BMW ellipsoids with the exception of a ground. 2 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Good looking harness but i am confused only 1 headlight? Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Thank you. I'm a tech at a toyota, so I see nice looking harnesses all day. I (vaguely) modeled this harness after a modern day one... No, this has everything for both headlights. Starting from top; a relay for each headlight, the red wire coming out to the left is to source voltage, next bunch of wires coming out to the left is passenger headlight - relay trigger wires that plug into original light socket and then 12V the feeds new BMW light. That is the replicated at the far end. 1 Quote Link to comment

mhub91
Purchasing my friends '79 KC that was wrecked. Full KA24DE (running) swap. Here we go again........ another KA What's this? Number 6 KA lol. Lol, but wait -- It was my old KA from my A10 that was wrecked. We meet again.............. 2 Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Originally got a KA24DE from a Frontier because I wanted to run my sidedrafts. The truck KA, though, has bent valves (all intake valves). I don't really want to mess with this.... However, It's a lot easier to carb a KA24DE from an S13/14 than I previously thought. I've just discovered Ford EDIS setups with Megajolt. Seriously inexpensive at around $300 for an entire setup -- including the EDIS (junk yard parts), and Megajolt spark / timing controller, and tone wheel that goes on crank. why have I never thought of this?! 1 Quote Link to comment

skyshadow
Great looking little truck. Roof rack is gnarly. I see what you're going for with the build. Would be a shame to see the paint stripped but I think a patina would really bring the rat look together. 1 Quote Link to comment
mhub91
I'm trying to strip the two tone off the bed, not the whole truck 1 Quote Link to comment

mhub91
My friend wrecked his 1979 KC and I bought it off him. I really wanted the drivetrain - KA24DE. It was the engine that was in my 1979 A10 sedan a few years back. Hammered.... But fixable..... After pulling the front end straight, I decided to do the unthinkable....... My other friend and I have decided to practice fabrication on this truck... Guinea pig? We'll be starting a tube front chassis, possibly IRS and front coilovers. This is on the back burner, though...... 2 Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Cleaned up the KA and rebuilt the bottom end and head. The pistons have been replaced with KA24E and bumping compression somewhere above 11.2:1 This engine will be running a dual set of Weber 45's, Ford EDIS4 crank trigger ignition with mega jolt. 2 Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
This truck is soo much better since the CL ad. Nice work. That black KC was a nice truck. Can't remember if you've upgraded the brakes or not on the single cab, but you need to if you haven't. The reasons should be apparent by now  Nice design on your tool  1 Quote Link to comment

Yes. the black KC was one of the nicest Datsun trucks I'd ever seen in person, without a doubt. The black KC was THE truck that made me want a 620. aaaand, yes. Bigger brakes are a MUST. I'll be going with D21 setup when the time comes. 1 Quote Link to comment
