Nascarkeith
I am a new Datsun owner and want to see if I am Ratsun worthy. I have a 2007 Silverado that is paid for and had a motorcycle for a toy. Sold it and wanted to get something I could play around with and that my daughter can ride in. I scoured craigslist and local Facebook groups looking for old Hondas and ran across my Datsun. :thumbup:Here it is when I got it.Known issues-Oil LeakInterior lights no workyBrake light stays onAir don't workLeaking coolantRadio mounted in floorRear tires wornQuarter window handle brokeWindow crank brokeFront seats duct taped with coversRust on bottom of doorsI got it home and showed it a little tlc. I put some led's in the dome light and the dash lights came on except the climate control. A new bulb fixed that. I put the radio in the dash but it was so dry rotted I busted some of it. Changed the oil. The leak looked like it was coming from around the oil filter. Washed it, cleaned it up, and painted the grill, headlight trim, and area between the tail lights black. I removed the trim and painted a black strip and also painted the rust white. I also zip tied the loose quarter window, took the ugly weather guards off, and fixed the window crank. Added lots of stickers, too.The good-Extra parts in trunk = grill, struts, clutch assembly, clutch disk, brake shoes, universal joint, 6x9's in boxesIt only cost me $400So what do you all think? Did I get a good deal? Is it Ratsun worthy? 1 Quote Link to comment
Fat510
Nice score  Get some nice seats and you'll be done :) Quote Link to comment
Nascarkeith
Yep! Its a fun little car. Oil change did not stop the leak. Looks like it is leaking from the oil pressure switch. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Looks good and a 2 door too boot. Have you found Rockauto yet? http://www.rockauto.com/ No i'm not a paid spokemen but they probably have as many parts in our various cars as Nissan does. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yep! Its a fun little car. Oil change did not stop the leak. Looks like it is leaking from the oil pressure switch. New ones are about $8 from local car parts stores. 1 Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Oh, i wasn't really referring to that part,, just in general .. Yeah that part could be sourced much faster locally. Quote Link to comment
Nascarkeith
Yep. I know about Rock Auto. Thanks for the help, though. I'm sure I will need it. I did some research and realized there should be a plug to connect to the oil pressure switch. Wiring for that plug is non-existent so I resoldered the hole close and covered it with JB Weld for good measure. We shall see if it still leaks. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Glue a quarter under the brake light switch. Quarter handles pop up on eBay all the time. Quote Link to comment
Cleopatra Jones
Welcome! Join the rest of us 210 owners here: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/21813-210s-unite/ I've got a few spare 1/4 window latches. Yours for the cost of shipping if you want them. I just archived and put away all my spare parts over the weekend so I'll know exactly where to find them. I can shoot you some pics tomorrow in you're interested. As for the window crank you can get some on ebay. 720 pickup window cranks also work with the B310 AND they're generally metal. Early round eye 210s came with metal cranks as well. The square eye most always came with plastic :( Quote Link to comment

king bee66
looks nice. whats the coil out of? Quote Link to comment
Nascarkeith
Thanks, Colourbox. I'll remember that if I decide to mess with it more. Great info guys. Not sure about the coil. Was on there when I got it. Looks like a previous owner did some hp mods. While working on the oil leak I saw a Weber decal on the carb. I also believe the timing is advanced. Quote Link to comment
Nascarkeith
I took some better pics of the coil, carb, engine bay, and interior. Any insight you guys have would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment
floyd17
This looks scarily like my hatch. You even have rust in the same places... Quote Link to comment
sunny310
Thats a great score... The lil clean up made a difference too. Need to do the engine bay though. A nice weber carb and exhaust would really wake that thing up Quote Link to comment

Nascarkeith
Someone mentioned putting a quarter on the brake switch to fix the blinkers. How does that work? My blinkers are amber and above the brake lights. Left side flashes. Right side comes on but doesn't flash. Quote Link to comment
mrmark
Looks good man! Quote Link to comment

Place a quarter under brake light switch to fix. Quote Link to comment

Nascarkeith
Ah, I wasn't specific enough. It's the brake light on the dash. Sensor on e-brake is stuck I assume. Master cylinder looks to be full. With the Weber carb, big coil, and electric fan I believe an old owner might have done some reading on here. Thanks to all of you for being welcoming and super helpful. I am having fun learning about Datsuns. Quote Link to comment
Nascarkeith
Forgive me if I am posting too much. I just like to document all my builds on forums whether it be rc, motorcyle, or car. I washed and waxed it today. Did what I could in the engine bay and cleaned up the interior. Trim rings have been cleaned with a SOS pad and wheels were painted with Rustoleum Metallic Dark Steel spray paint. I also painted the area around the windows black. Oil change and work on oil pressure switch stopped the leak. New air filter was put on. Carb has been cleaned. Some new plugs and it should be set for the fall and winter. What is the key hole on the drivers side behind the door for? No of my keys fit it and I can't find an answer from friends or online. 1 Quote Link to comment
Sierra
Maybe an old school alarm system? My dad had one and you needed a key to turn it on and off. 2 Quote Link to comment
Nascarkeith
Yeah, I've googled and still no luck. Not exactly sure what that could be for. No other signs of an alarm in the car though. Got the blinkers fixed. Just had to clean the terminals. They were very corroded. I changed my plugs. Runs much better now. I thought with the new plug wires on it the plugs would have been changed. I was wrong. I can't believe it ran as good as it did. I also looked through the parts that came in the trunk and found some cool, chrome window visors. Nice little added bonus. 1 Quote Link to comment
