VanillawaferX
Got my truck from the shop today. They adjusted the timing and carb. Seems to not stutter or get a total loss of power anymore... Any ways since I bought this truck I have looked at this alloy post in the engine bay and wondered what purpose it serves. Its not attached to anything on the under side of the fender. Its not attached on top to anything besides 3 nuts holding it down. Ive read through my Haynes bible and scoured the forums and google images to find another image or something on this alien technology. I give up. Forgive me if this is one of those "Psh everyone knows what that is..." Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
That is the transmitter that the MLB is using to monitor your actions. Your ability to remove it is impossible. 2 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Can't make out where on the truck it is. Those brake lines?? don't look right. Quote Link to comment
EastBay521
That's just the OZ42. check that its in working order 1 Quote Link to comment
Omelet720
No, no. That is clearly a sub-harmonic thermostatic linear resonance diagonalizer. Gosh, I would think everyone would know... Critical to your truck's performance! 3 Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Can't make out where on the truck it is. Those brake lines?? don't look right. It's the passenger side inner fender right at the firewall,, brake lines on 720s do the funky chicken right there.. Quote Link to comment
VanillawaferX
Sorry people havent had time to check this. Yes it is the passenger side fender. And from your responses I can tell everyone is as confused as I. Haha that damn thing bugs me Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
OK, time to think of things owners bolt on under the hood. 1/ Alarm systems. 2/ .....??? Quote Link to comment
VanillawaferX
OK, time to think of things owners bolt on under the hood. 1/ Alarm systems. 2/ .....??? The alarm actually..The top of the post is a hex shape but it almost resembles a ball joint. maybe a mounting point for the speaker? But thats a stretch and that would be a pretty elaborate siren mount. Other than that cant think of anything else. Assuming its not stock and it is not visually needed for anything... out it comes. morb
Is there anything similar on the driverside? Does anything on the hood line up with it? Maybe it's a universal hood prop kit of some sort. Quote Link to comment

Maybe it's a universal hood prop kit of some sort. Nope nothing on the opposite side. And the underside of the hood is clear. I thought maybe someone had a torque damper in there but usually those are on the other side. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I thought maybe someone had a torque damper in there but usually those are on cars that make lots of torque. Fixed. 3 Quote Link to comment
maltese
What's it look like on the bottom side? I'm guessing auxiliary ground lug. Although, why? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Why not just remove it and move on? Quote Link to comment

crimsoneclipse
I thought this thread was about posting pics of your engine bay. (I'd qualify for the "Most Rust" award) Quote Link to comment
