I go in to correct spelling on what I typed and I hit the delete button and my quote looses it's quotes. For whatever reason, if I use the backspace button, it doesn't do it!? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Torquing valve stem installer. I think it's set at 4in. lbs. Just too cool. Buy one. I paid less than $20 on the Snap-On truck for this. 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Very nice. Do you ever find it sits at too odd of an angle to really work right? I almost bought that. Just concerned it would be limited. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Master seal puller/install kit................ Look at you go. I am currently without a Snap-On guy. I would have loved to have purchased that set. When I bought mine I needed it right then. Matco guy walked through the door. Easy sale. Meh. I am not disappointed in my purchase. flatcat19
We are such tool snobs. Mac, Matco, Snap-On. Well, I bought this from HF years ago for a buck. Been awesome every time I use it. I was going though my box the other day with a rookie tech in the shop. It's an odd realization that I own more HF stuff than I do Craftsman. Fuck Sears! 3 Quote Link to comment

Just concerned it would be limited. It does twist just a little at first.........now it's much more loose........ I'm going to drill out the rivet they use with the weak ass washer and put a nut and bolt with a fat head in......... I do 80% of the T-Belts that come in to the shop........all kinds.........haven't had a cam give me trouble yet......... I had the one you have........I broke an ear off trying to bust a cam bolt on V6 Cram-me......so I bought the one I have now..... Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I'm really surprised some one hasn't mentioned the Power Probe. Great tool. When I got my PP3 I also bought leads for my meter that also fit all the PP fittings. I bought these as well... Made by Pomona. Wire piecing clips. Spring-loaded. Adjustable also. These have made digging under dashes chasing circuits so much easier. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Serpentine belt tool made by Gearwrench. Very slick. The main wrench part also accepts all those through sockets that GW and other brands make. This thing is money. 1 Quote Link to comment

Nissan_Boy85
Currently working for Toyota, I do a lot of timing belt work. I found that this is one of the best tools ever made! I paid a lot for this. After the first use-SOOOOOOO worth it. One cup presses against old/leaking cam seal in the car and cuts it in 2 pieces making removal a breeze. The other cup presses the new seal in perfectly. If anyone has ever tried to replace the Bank 1 cam seal on any FWD V6, you will understand how invaluable this is! I'm also hunting down huge washers and nuts to customize this set to work with Nissans and Hondas. And since we're removing cam gears... I use this and one of those long flex head wrenches I posted earlier to remove cam gears. BOOM! Hahahahaha, I work for Toyota too. I've used everything you have above, and own everything besides the remover/installer cup. I prefer the tool that was in the quote in your post though, and let me tell you why. The seal remover works on more then just the 3.5L cam seals, and costs less. To put the seals in I just coat the outside of the seal in Syl-Glide and press them in with my hands. I agree hole-heartedly though, that installer is the shit for the difficult ones. If you don't have one yet, get the 3.4L Timing Belt Tensioner Tool. Found in 97-01 Tacoma and 4Runner and all models of T-100, it'll save you the huge headache of using a prybar on the damn thing. I can get you the Blue Point number if your interested. While I'm back in here again....just bought a set of Snap-On wobbly sockets....changed my life forever. Highly recommended. Probably helps that my dealer cut me one hell of a deal since he's moving to Bend...oh well. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I was given a factory tensioner tool when I faced my first 3.4L. In all honesty-I will be leaving Toyota soon-Never to look back. I really dislike the car and the politics involved. I have talked to other Toyota techs and they have all said the same stuff. Do you work at the new Toyota dealer off of 4th Plain? How do you like it there? 1 Quote Link to comment

Do you work at the new Toyota dealer off of 4th Plain? How do you like it there? No no, I'm off Broadway in Portland. I like it there. There's the normal politics and dealer BS, but if you just bury your head in a T-Belt job it'll skip over you. Real lax and the pay for the jobs is good from what I hear from other techs. Techs will leave here thinking the grass is greener on the other side, but they usually come back. I know we have a position opening up here end of the month for a tech. My cousins husband (she's a detailer where I'm at) works at the one off 4th Plain. We like to compare notes a lot and I think I got the better end of the deal. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I am looking to move back to Portland. Do you guys have that A/B pay scale there? Quote Link to comment
Nissan_Boy85
Yes and no. Technically, no. Pay is more based off of experience. For example, me and my buddy from school are both considered C level, but I make more per flat rate hour because I've been on the line longer. Quote Link to comment
