DriftZ
My first car was a 280zx, so I have had a soft spot for them since then. I have wanted another one for years and years, so when I saw this in the junkyard I had to rescue it. The car only has 110,000 original kms!! So when I brought it home I noticed the brake lines were all cut. :crying: They are cut at every corner of the car, multiple times within the same line. Pulled the cut lines out of the engine bay. Picked up some parts I needed, luckily I got another set of good brake hard lines. Ran the new hardlines through the engine bay and hooked them up to my new (to me) soft lines. Waiting for calipers now. Pulled the factory knuckle, strut combo Picked up some more goodies, s13 knuckles, brakes and suspension The top spring perch is too big to fit in the 280zx strut tower so I cut the perch and spring out. s13 stuff bolted in Quote Link to comment
Ranman72
1st post with tons of picks and progress to boot I love it welcome to Ratsun how did you attach the s13 struts to the control arms ? is there a conversion kit ? Quote Link to comment

DriftZ
Thanks guys, looks like a nice forum you have here! I put s13 knuckles on the front lca, it bolts right on to the stock 280 lca, and so now I can use s13 coilovers and brakes. I love the red interior Quote Link to comment
athoose
Glad to see someone able to rescue one from the junkyard! A nice one at that. Would have been a shame. Quote Link to comment

DriftZ
looks super messy, but the motor is ready to be pulled now Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
I have never seen someone have the compassion and/or desire to resurrect such a (seemingly) so far-gone ZX. Good on you! Get after it! 1 Quote Link to comment

bonvo
hmmmmm if s13 stuff bolts into a 280zx it should bolt into anything that zx struts are swapped into hmmmmmm 1 Quote Link to comment
Tristin
hmmmmm if s13 stuff bolts into a 280zx it should bolt into anything that zx struts are swapped into hmmmmmm Yeah it will bolt in, but your LCA and ball joint angles will be all super fucked. They arent close to the same as any of the Datsun pieces. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
that was the factor that i was wondering about lol if i can get my hands on some cheap s13 stuff i might play around with it and see if its a viable alternative to tracking down 280zx stuff plus all the brake upgrades and such Quote Link to comment
Tristin
that was the factor that i was wondering about lol if i can get my hands on some cheap s13 stuff i might play around with it and see if its a viable alternative to tracking down 280zx stuff plus all the brake upgrades and such Yeah angle is horrible and the hub depth is something like .5in wider than 510 if I remember correctly. So while everyone goes to 280zx for .75 deeper dish wheels, youd have to run .5in less dish than stock 510 wheels. Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
what if you ran the 280zx knuckles on 280zx control arms, or atfermarket 240sx lower control arms that have adjustable turnbuckles?? Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
for example, will these mount in the frame with little or no modification? http://www.ebay.com/itm/89-1994-Nissan-240SX-S13-1990-1996-Nissan-300SX-Z32-Front-Lower-Control-Arm-RED-/121067193423?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c302ac44f&vxp=mtr Quote Link to comment

captaingamez
whats your plan for dealing with the ball joint angle? Quote Link to comment
DriftZ
Decided against the rb20, going to put the L28 back in cuz I want to drive it this summer louvers not fitted yet, just sitting on window to see how it looks I will lower the car more when the motor is back in the car and the good wheels are on 1 Quote Link to comment
