Tristin
If you want the "plated" look like its actually gold, then hydrodipping will be your only option. Here is a valve cover he just did in a powder gold though: Link to comment
Speed_Office!
ehh I could accomplish something similar on my own. I def want the shiny plated look. Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
Powder coat wont do it then Link to comment
Speed_Office!
okay, well then why did you suggest it? lol. I do appreciate the help, it's just I assumed maybe this dude had some kind of tricks or could do something else to make it shiny. Link to comment
Dawa
after i saw how pretty our radiators are in their bare (brass) finish, i wondered if i could get my valve cover the same color. and you can, you can get it plated brass. which is very close to gold in color. any place that does chrome plating does brass plating. the shops i called actually said that before things are chrome plated, they are first brass plated because it acts as a sacrificial anode. quote i got was $120 Link to comment
INDY510
I used some gold spray paint out of a rattle can and it looked like this: I don't think it was Krylon, but the cap looked like this: Link to comment

Dawa
^ that is def not spraypaint though, indy510. i used rustoleums "chrome" color spray on my grill and it looked pretty good, but it does fade. Link to comment
crackerjack69
I'd use the spray can, or better yet the dip from Eastwood. Link to comment

It's probably due to the fact that half your threads get closed for stupidity. Well it looks like you have plenty of options... Now just follow through. 2 Link to comment
Dawa
dude im tellin you i already looked into this. like you said, yellow paint looks hideous. "Gold" anodizing is also ugly (seen that too.) brass plating is the way to go. or dont do it so i can be the only ratsun'er that i know of thats doin it :) Link to comment
