B210GX
Run them or not? I need the center linkage. I have fabbed one up but IDK .. These are 2 bolt Carbs I'll have to remove the header and run the GX5 exhaust manifold to clear the carbs. Are the factory air filters available in the US? I've done some searching.... but where do I begin? I know nothing of these a I do know the air box is quite rare.. Right Wayno? currently running the 32/36 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Yea, it is rare, I cannot seem to find one. The center linkage is a small one, at one point I thought that the L series linkage could be shortened and welded back together, but I never followed through, as I did not need to anymore. If you want, I can dig my setups out and take photos of the different linkages, also there is a guy up in canada that said he could make the linkage for me, I believe it was this guy, http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=zeddsaver&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&sqi=2&ved=0CDAQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fzeddsaver.com%2F&ei=BWw9UYPTIcf9qwHD7YCYCw&usg=AFQjCNGi79Z-6kzDKSQ_AOX5s7S9c3w3UA&bvm=bv.43287494,d.aWM I believe he said that he would need the linkage to make a copy though. There is also these guys, but you will pay for what you buy from them, but they do the best work out there as far as I know. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=therapy%20su&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&ved=0CDkQFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ztherapy.com%2F&ei=0mw9UbCTI9KlqQGYlYDICg&usg=AFQjCNGjO0OmmcZhKsvB7T9rfUjvrgzBSg&bvm=bv.43287494,d.aWM Quote Link to comment
wayno
BTW, dual SUs will kick a down draft webbers ass given the engines are set up the same. What does the "T" stand for in the thread title? 1 Quote Link to comment
B210GX
I'll give them a try. I've read ATF works well in them. Quote Link to comment

RedBanner
Wayno, I believe he is referring to the a14t head, verry uncommon as I under stand, I dont think they had a proprietary intake manifold, but they did have big oval port runners. Josht would know. Quote Link to comment
B210GX
Just noticed my intake manifold has a crack in one of the mounting ears. Have to weld that up... Actually Banner I was reffering to the twin set up. nothing fancy about this head. I dont even remember which one it is. other than its an oval port. It does not have water jackets for the SU manifold. Can I just drill them out ? For the coolant passages in the intake. Thanks Graveltrapp, I have that page bookmarked also. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
It does not have water jackets for the SU manifold. Can I just drill them out ? For the coolant passages in the intake. I would just leave it as is. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
And if you can't weld up the intake, I have a spare. Quote Link to comment
B210GX
I would just leave it as is. I saw that it would be better to leave it as is, in some of my searching last night. As this will not be a winter driver anyway. Is it a two bolt manifold? Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Is it a two bolt manifold? Is there any other kind? ^_^ Never seen any but a 2-bolt. Can send a pic if need be. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Water warms and cools the intake but there has to be an outlet from the intake that returns the water back to the lower rad hose where it enters the water pump. An A14T would, by Nissan nomenclature, mean an A series 1.4 liter turbo. Pretty sure the T does not mean multiple carb. S usually means carb. I don't remember what the designation for dual carb is.... or if there was one? Quote Link to comment

Ok then well the Wiki MUST be wrong hmmm http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=A14T_Part_Numbers but this would in fact still be wrong as the A14T had the 4 bolt flange carbs. mine are the A12T set up. I knew that I had read that somewhere. "T" is for the twin set of carbs Mike Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Seem this is true also. Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
... well... theres this tho, from 1200 tech wiki on a series heads:. "M24: For twin-carb A14T, similar to H89 but with dual-valve springs." Wich says the m24 casting is called the a14t, wich is a badass head. Quote Link to comment
leosnake
You have the emission type of Hitachi Carbs!...similiar to the type everyone removes from their Zs and installs the early type dome shape tops. Z therapy can make you the center linkage. Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
At least for early Datsuns the designation for dual Hitachi SU carbs was a final model designator of "K". Example my car is a RL411UAK. U is North American / Canadian model. "A" is automatic transmission [manual would be "T"]. "K" dual Hitachi "SU" carbs. Quote Link to comment
