jrock4224
boosters usually bleed off pressure while your sitting with brakes on .....squishy is usually master related...my wifes blazer took three m/c to find one that I didn't think was malfunctioning..it ended up being a used one off a truck I knew worked the parts store ones kept going back ... Guest Jamee
fluid level looks to be the same( not low and not high) dont think the master failed cus i can still stop the booster...... well i hope not :P When my master went out I could still stop but there would be times it felt like i had no brakes. my man didnt believe me when i said there was something wrong with my brakes because everytime he drove it they were fine, I refused to drive my car and so we finally got a new master and we looked in the old one and it was toast. Eagle_Adam
i fucking loath changing MC's....... Quote Link to comment
wayno
Do the brakes get squishy while you drive it, or after it sits overnight? Quote Link to comment
Draker
You can check the booster by turning off the engine.. you should have one solid assisted brake with engine off. Second should feel like you are trying to stop a boat. It won't test efficiency of the booster though. soft brakes are either a bad MC or you still have some stubborn air in there.... Eagle_Adam
The break were just squishy at one point and haven't returned yet Wayno. It's like the 1st half of the pedal distance is useless. The last half does all the braking Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
I don't think it's air In the system, but I've been wrong before Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
It's air... I've had that same problem before Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Sounds like air. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
I know it sounds like it, but it's not IMO. The brakes were fine for a week or so then all of a sudden bam. How would air get into a sealed system when it wasn't tampered with? Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
Been talkn to Bonvo and his idea of the piston in the MC getting stuck or not returning all the way matches up with what I'm experiencing. Off to go test the theory Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Masters are cheap enough. You have the load sensing valve in there too, right? Tits or tires. Nothing but problems. Quote Link to comment

How would air get into a sealed system when it wasn't tampered with? If you pump the brakes while the engine is not running, and the issue returns, it's likely the master. Quote Link to comment
Siqx20
mine has been acting sinilar. i think i have a rear slave leaking Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
So I tapped on the MC in an attempt to see if I can free up the piston but no dice yet But I took the cap off and had my dad pump the brakes. With the pedal down the fluid still rises in the reservoir which seems odd to me.... Probably going to put in a new MC, but now I have to look into what MC will be best for the rear disc brake upgrade Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
15/16" or 7/8" You have a booster? If so, the easier to find 7/8" will be fine. 15/16" would be best. 79-80 Z is the 15/16". Earlier are the 7/8". Quote Link to comment
jrock4224
Like I said I got a set up master and booster if u need Quote Link to comment

Eagle_Adam
If you pump the brakes while the engine is not running, and the issue returns, it's likely the master. yup, ill be replacing the MC during the rear disc brake upgrade Quote Link to comment
