73DATSON
I'm looking into a spray bar, found a 280 spray bar. Will this work? How do I hook it up? How hard will it be to installed? Does any body have one? Pictures? THX. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It can be shortened and made to work. Sorry just searched and couldn't find anything.... yet. Quote Link to comment

Logical1
I have a L4 219 head with the (I believe) 260Z spray bar modded & shortened on it. It looks just like the one on my buddies 74' 260Z we are rebuilding. It is mounted to the cam towers and gets oil via them. I'm not at my shop or I would take some pictures. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
I wonder if the extra oil will allow using a lower level ZDDP oil??? Quote Link to comment
73DATSON
Do you think it's a lot of work for this set in a L20B? Or I should go for the external one? Quote Link to comment
Sealik
That pic looks rather familiar...... Unless you're running an extremely high lift cam and have valve springs with more valve seat...<...cam lobe pressure...is it really worth it? Quote Link to comment
73DATSON
how hard is it to put in a z motor in the 510? Quote Link to comment

Even if you were, I doubt it's worth it unless you run high RPMS a lot. Quote Link to comment

D52E
I have thought about this before. There are 2 ways of going about this. One way is to get the cam towers from a 240Z along with the spray bar. You will have to cut the spray bar to fit the L4 engine. This will fit inside the rocker cover and you can check the spray pattern with the cover off. The second option will be an aftermarket kit with the spray bar bolted to the rocker cover and external oil feed line. It may be a bit more difficult to check the oil spray pattern. datzenmike
Why didn't they put the spray on the other side where the cam lobes and the rockers pinch the oil. The cam will spin the oil off here. Quote Link to comment
D52E
Not sure, perhaps the oil spray bar was an after thought. I would speculate they had to go with the right side becasue the oil galley was there? Changing it to the left side may have required significant modifications to the oil feed. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Just bend the line over? If I did it I would run it differently. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
run a KA oil pump and dont worry about it. most cams that run the spray bar have the plug OUT in the back. Quote Link to comment

hobbes_the_cat
I don't know about the one that attaches to the cam towers but I have one that is attached to the valve cover and the motor was run at redline constantly before I got it (mini stock racer). The valve train is still in awesome shape so I assume it is doing the job well. Looks simple to install. Drill a few holes, mont the bar, run a flex line from block to valve cover. Done.
