Star Blue Metallic would be a nice color, not common, but not too flashy. this is the color. it only came on Wolfsburg Edition Vw Jetta's in 89-90 Quote Link to comment
tr8er
That is a perfect Blue. Quote Link to comment

converted_to_datsun
Haha I'd totally go metalic but this is my first whole vehicle I'm painting and metalic can't be wet sanded. I'm gonna stay safe and do single stage gloss non metalic. I did paint my motorcycle metalic tho! I chose a steel grey metalic for the bike My other ride haha Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Well today I did some work on the pickup bed. I drilled out what was left of the bed hooks. Then I filled the 20 holes that were drilled in the rails, I welded bolts in the holes then grinder them off flush. I also welded some nuts under the rails for my tool box mounts. Then I shaved the drivers side marker light. The marker light needs more work and the metal warped a bit. It's darn now tho so tomorrow lol Hooks Welding up the holes Ground flush The mounts for my tool box! Shaved marker light Quote Link to comment
Spoona_Jay21
Fancy! if i may ask, any specific reason for the Dehook? they can be very useful Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Well the previous owner cut most of the hooks off with a sawzall but left part of it still on there. So I finished the job lol Quote Link to comment

converted_to_datsun
I'm painting soon soo it came down to what would look good lol I had a fun drive to work today haha my front carb had the choke assembly pop off whick means absolutely no fuel.... I was not sure at the time but it felt like I was 2 cylinders down but it didn't seem possible. Well it was 2 cylinders down caust the front carb was unhooked. And now I know it's possible to drive on 2 cylinders. I messed around with it after work and got it back to normal haha The botom popped off... It just snaps on there Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Well today was a story of failure... I went to weld up some pin holes left from shaving the side marker and well fail. I just kept making bigger holes and chasing them all over... So I cut it out so I can try again cause it was to far gone. It's dark now so I'll have to hit it again after work tomorrow. Dang I knew this sheet metal sucks to weld on but that was ridiculous... Clean slate Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Got a few pointers from the welder at work and went to town welding in a new patch. It all went great till I ground down the welds and attempted to weld the remaining pin holes. The metal was thinner after grinding and was hard to do well. I've got it decent for now but more work on it tomorrow befor canby Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Well I got it good enough for canby and put a coat of white primer on the panel. It needs more working to get it perfect but it'll do for today. Now to go pack for canby!! Not too bad from a distance Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Canby was completely awesome! Got to meet allot of members for the first time and just hang out and do my favorite thing... talk about cars! I also loved digging through the parts at the vendors, i loved it soo much i loaded up on a few parts for my build haha. i got an early grille badge and some fender badges that I'm not sure what they came off but now they're mine. I also got h4 conversion buckets for my lights... prolly gonna do some projectors in them but gotta research more. I picked up some 280zx flat top pistons for a future motor build. Then the best part of all!! I got a L series su filter housing! I have no clue how I got that lucky but i did lol Badges lights pistons filter awesomeness Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Oh lol almost forgot I got a huge pile of stickers from crackerjack too! I even got some tailgate letters! He does some really good work, I'm gonna have him make a couple custom ones for me later too Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Well I've been researching what I wanna do with my new pistons and I've got a few ideas but I'm still researching. Anyways I painted my new grille emblem and polished the chrome and it'll go on after work tomorrow Shiny Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
I picked up some h4 bulbs and went home and installed my h4 buckets and my new grille badge. The h4's are temporary lol befor winter I'm gonna upgrade much further Soo good Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
i picked up some hardware to mount the sss air cleaner i scored... basically I found out that even if i removed the break booster completely there would be modification needed to fit the housing which i don't wanna see this thing cut up at all. Then after that let down i rigged together a line to connect my pcv the the crank case breather. I coupled a piece of pcv line to the stock line and ran it. My motor was surprisingly quieter and it got rid of my low rpm stumble. Then i went to work on my motorcycle so operation paint job can happen lol and i know have both of my vehicles running!! Gonna ride my motorcycle to work monday lol Soo close! Pcv hooked up soo purdy Quote Link to comment
