Yep work was done and it is soo good! Well except for the tow truck ride home after blowing a coolant line and soaking the distributer. Anyway it was a day of about 3 swaps. I started out by swapping to a 74 break booster for more clearance, then swapped in a better exhaust manifold, and topped it off by swapping on my L18 SSS flat top su's! The whole process took forever. Luckily Jacob helped me do the swap and tuned the carbs. If I did it all by myself it woulda been a much longer process. The carbs rev soo nice and respond like a dream. Everything was great till I blew a coolant line on my way home. I was pulling up to a stop light and all the sudden I lost power in a big cloud of smoke and steam... Long story short I blew a coolant line to the manifold water and soaked the distributer making it completely dead in the water. I rode a tow truck the rest of the way home and it'll be fixed in the morning.

Anyways here's a before pic

I fixed the coolant line and blew the distributor out with my compressor. After a couple tries it fired right up. But by the time I made it half a mile down my driveway it died and wouldn't start back up... Checked spark and pulled the plugs and there's fuel too but it won't start... Cleaned the plugs and letting it sin in case it's flooded. It's really weird cause last night before the coolant line blew there was no problems like this at all

Nope haha no breaks are given to me haha. I took my motorcycle out for a ride while the battery was charging for the truck and one on the carbs was stuck and the float bowls overflowed about half a gallon after I parked it. So both vehicles down :(

I took the distributer off and sprayed it out with electrical contact cleaner and cleaned the cap and AT&T the connections. Tried and no dice. Gonna try to get ahold of another el dizzy to see if that's the problem. I definitely have fuel and air and I have spark but it may be weak cause it doesn't even try to fire

Well I found the problem and the truck runs! The coil got a crack in it some how and was arcing internally. Got a new coil and it fired right up. But... The float bowl on the front carb started overflowing. The float took on fuel, I tried to fix the holes but it's too far gone. Getting another one tomorrow.

Well never mind haha I fixed the float. Prolly gonna get a new set of floats later tho. Anyways I boiled the float to get the fuel out. Then I sottered the holes but kept finding more leaks. So I had an idea... I dipped the float in fuel tank liner! It sealed all the holes and stays at the proper level. Gonna source some floats from Nissan if I can but for now this works great.

Well today I decided to add some curve to those stub stacks. I heated them up with a torch and tried to press a trailer ball in with the drill press... Fail of the drill press. The base snapped with less than 5lbs pressure... Oops. Then I heated them up and used a 5lb hammer to do the work with the trailer ball, success! Well at least for the first one... The second one split. Looks like I'm gonna just order a set. Then I did a valve adjustment. The valves were pretty loose but last time I adjusted them the head hadn't been run on motor for awhile. So everything in nice and tight now

Well I went for a drive today and about 2 miles from home I could smell gas an it started stumbling at low rpm's... Darn float took on fuel again. So this time I skipped the redneck fixes and drove down to z therapy and picked up some brand new floats! I also went to north portland and got myself a dual choke setup off a 72 240z. I got home from all my errands and installed everything and it fires up nice when it's cold now and no more overflowing! The lever for the choke isn't mounted yet but it'll go in the center consol

Well today I got a little done. I painted the grille black and I only have been able to get ahold of outer trim rings so I put them on too. I also painted that little trim piece on the botom of the hood. Then I went to work on something that's pretty high priority on my list... My new cab! Awhile back I bought eagle Adams totaled truck to use the rust free cab on my frame. Today I removed most of what was left bolted to the inner fenders under the hood. The plan is to do primer and paint on the cab before I swap it on. The reason for the cab swap is my pretty severe rust issues on my current cab. The drivers side floors are rapidly falling out from under my feet, the battery tray doesn't exist and everywhere I look cancer is eating through from behind. The new cab has no cancer and is streight. I'm gonna start sanding and priming ASAP. Weather hasn't been nice lately tho...

I'm starting my own club... The left rear funded club! Haha

Today I cut the bad panel off the drivers side rear of my bed and welded on one I got off another long bed in the junk yard. It turned out pretty good. I finished just in time for the darn oregon rain to start back up haha
