Recycling old Datto parts

Some of you guys might have read about my tailgate getting smashed a while back. I replaced it with a nice white one that I added a rising sun to in vinyl, turned out pretty sweet.

This left me with a dented gate taking up valuable garage space as I didn't have the heart to toss it.

 

Me and my girl have been hitting our garden pretty hard this year and it is turning out pretty nice so far. She asked me if I could build her a fold down counter off of the fence in the back yard for doing transplanting and what not. That way she wouldn't have to sit on the ground when re-potting. Hmmmmmm, I told her I would come up with something...

 

Here is what I came up with....

I need to pick up some more chain and I am going to weld in some expanded metal to create a flat work area that will drain well. All in all I think it turned out pretty good and she loves it and that's all that really matters. :)

Finished this up this weekend. Got some explanded metal welded into the pockets, laid some red paint on it and got both chains installed. Turned out pretty nice if I say so myself. :D

man great idea if you sheet metaled the inside you could mount it on your garage wall and have a fold out work bench. I think i will do this with wood thanks for the idea

Thanks fellas, it's given me the idea of using the expanded metal in the 4x4 to double wall the bed with. Easy to bungie cord or strap things to. :)
