ggzilla
Kinda looks like a Cannon manifold. I never heard of MG before, the Autozone link went 1 Quote Link to comment

wayno
The Autozone link went to a generic page. Every time I click on the link it goes to the header inquired about. Here is a google search link. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CCwQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autozone.com%2Fautozone%2Fparts%2FPatriot-Exhaust-Header%2F_%2FN-a033t%3FitemIdentifier%3D403607_0_0_&ei=zaD1UqqaNZbeoASY4YGACg&usg=AFQjCNFrwGPk4FJGdhgARsnV5nYYWqJrGQ&sig2=6c2s205l3Lo1OTRbaNKTbw 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunrides
The intake is for a MG. It's probably not a Cannon but could be. There were no markings on it before I polished it. Carb is a 45 DCOE 13. I have not got it back on the road yet, but I got it rigged up so it can move under it's own power. Kinda surprised how responsive the carb is, being a 45 and all. I do have it choked down to 30mm though........ Mark 1 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The intake is for a MG. Do you mean the manifold for an Austin B-series engine bolts on to the J13? Does it require any mods? 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunrides
Do you mean the manifold for an Austin B-series engine bolts on to the J13? Does it require any mods? Yes it does bolt up, but you can't run it with the stock exhaust manifold. Need to use the header which is also bolt on to a certain extent. 2 Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Is that a Pertronix Patriot header? Seems they don't make Datsun headers anymore. 1 Quote Link to comment

Z chopper
what mods to the header needed to be done to fit the j series? 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunrides
The flange is a direct bolt up. The front tube will probably hit the fuel pump, but maybe a smaller aftermarket will clear. I just went electric. Also, there is a bump out on the block that hits the collector. I did a combination of grinding the block and smacking a small flat in the collector. While the collector does not hit the torsion, it does take a little work with fitting to get around it. I have pics, just need to get them up. The Patriot header seems to be a decent quality for the money. Not like there are a whole lot of options out there. Mark 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunrides
Header pic Bung is for wide band O2 for future carb tuning. Stainless mandrel exhaust, at least the start, Shout out to XXL for the inspiration 2 Quote Link to comment

wayno
You thinking about fuel injection on this engine? 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunrides
where did you get the valve cover? Victoria British You thinking about fuel injection on this engine? No. The bung is for my wideband O2 to dial in the Weber quicker. Fuel injection would be pretty easy with the Redline setup, but the cost far outweight the benefit. Mark 1 Quote Link to comment

XXL
I love the exhaust mods. I've hand-built quite a few SS exhausts over the years... and was wanting to make one for my monster J13, but was planning on sticking to the stock manifold (for now, at least). Might you have the stock head pipe still in one piece? I'd love to get hold of the first 6" or so of the head pipe so I can make a copy of it in SS. Obviously I have one on my own truck, but it's my daily driver. If you have it, and would be willing to send it to me, please PM me and we can discuss. 1 Quote Link to comment
Rushnracin
Looking foreword to engine pics. Wish I had the time todo my 520 so clean . I've owned mine since 1976 finally putting on road again. Beautiful project you have done thank for the pics 1 Quote Link to comment
XXL
What is the attachment method on the valve cover? Clearly the MG is center bolt. Did you fab internal hoops to get you from the Datsun head up to the top of the MG valve cover? 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunrides
You guys are making me spill all my secrets! :ninja: Actually, all you need to do is remove the Datsun rocker arm bolts and buy/install the MG stud. Pretty cheap at VB. Mark 1 Quote Link to comment
