Jekyl.Hyde.Kustoms
Thats your 620! Ive seen that thing passed around the net for a while. Hat off man. Cant wait to see that austin! Thanks again. Thanks man, I'm planning on a ton of changes to it and a paint job in the coming future. I'll have to post a build thread if I find some time. I might post the Austin in the non Datsun build page as well. And no problem, anytime. 1 Quote Link to comment

willz
4 point cage, some suspension work, good tires, cam and a weber carb. it was an sr5 with the 4ac motor since they never made an original factory white hatch as a gts in the US. Saw it one day driving through some farm land in utah and had to have it. I owned a 1990 vw corrado at that time. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ben280
Dang dude!! This is a super sick build! Wish I had your measurement and fab knowledge. Almost everything you have done I have deemed scary and stressful! Props to an excellent build. 1 Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
Thanks man! Even though your build is not as "scary", that thing is still inspiring. What you've done to it is clean, quality work. I would own that thing in a heart beat. Quote Link to comment
finney
did you find headers? did they work? less other cars more 620.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
The stocks will work. Im just going to extend them further and weld on another flange. I have some time for the 620 today whike I wait on parts. The other car will be my commuter so I need it running good. Quote Link to comment

Cpl620
Alright, another day down. I tacked up the front tower plates. I thought it was pretty cool as I used the original scrap cuts to make the mounting points and the gussets. Im trying to think of better ways to use material, since im BROKE! haha. A lot of time was spent getting more measurements right on the money again, but its all tacked in place. I also got the engine mount plate mocked up. Im going to use my circuit sport KA24DE poly engine mounts to save some cash, and it makes finding replacements a lot easier. all i need to do now it cut the front/inner struts out and tack them in. after this it will be able to roll! except i need new ball joints and all new bushings before i can put it all together so ill be doing a shitty paint job in the mean time so it doesn't rust before i can get a good spray on it. I was actually thinking about doing POR15 on the whole frame. Suggestions? more ideas.... A large long main brace will mount on the outside like i did in the rear. I sketched a little something real quick. the new structure/tubing is done in red. The outside tube will run to a plate and stop directly on the fire wall. another plate will be on the cab side of the wall with 4 bolts connecting them together. the cab plate will have a tube that runs to the new dash bar, which will also be connected to the roll cage. This allows me to connect the whole front of the structure to stiffen it up, but also allows me to keep the cab removable at the same time. A similar design will be in the back of the cab, utilizing a "sissy" bar that runs down to "U" bolts on the frame and then bolts on top of the new strut towers, also making it removable so i dont draw unnecessary attention when I'm not at the track. willz
looking good man! 1 Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
So the front was much simpler since I didn't have to cut the frame or make mounting points. It would be rolling right now, but i dont have the ball joints to bolt it all together. I had to move the engine forward from its original placement, which had me 2" into the fire-wall. This puts the weight forward more which i dont like, but in return I lower the engine quite a bit. To top it off, I wont have to run hood cowlings or cut the fire-wall which is less work, less welding, less money spent. Ill have to make new engine mounting points off the cross member tomorrow and finish the engine mounts as well. after that, its a lot of grinding, painting, and parts. Lines are getting smoother... i still blow at welding, haha. 1 Quote Link to comment

finney
Makes me want to put my 1uz in my v520. Saving grace is I can't afford a new computer to run my ibts Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
I would love to run some ITBs on this, but I hear it sucks for every day driving. You could just grab a MS2 system. That should put you back only a few $100 Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
Didn't get crap done today watching the games. Thank god Denver won so they can go and face roll those fools in Seattle.... Anyways, got the engine in just the right spot with the stock pan. ill stop being lazy and fab the engine mounts tomorrow. I do need to cut up my oil pan though, and i need to cut, shorten, and rotate the oil pickup away from the back of the pan. Ill widen the pan to keep a larger sump size and probably add some plates in the bottom to help with slosh and keep oil in the center the best i can... Quote Link to comment
