yello620
I have an extra pulley if you need one. Do you have the oil slinger that is right behind it? He needs that too. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
hmmm, maybe. I should but it may just be misplaced between my parts cabinet and where near a dismantled motor. I shall check. Quote Link to comment
Juicebox
I need a lot of things... Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
So far no luck, not on the motor or in my cabinet. Its the only thing I seem to be missing... Such a tiny piece. Quote Link to comment

Juicebox
Sorry for the lack of replies everyone, I have been keeping myself busy this weekend. I picked up a new camshaft, rockers, a timing sprocket, some mudflaps, and a side mirror. I still need a pulley, the oil slinger behind it, and the crankshaft key to get this beast running. Any help is appreciated. Quote Link to comment

Juicebox
I would love a pulley and a slinger. This truck is being sooo close to running it has me on edge. I don't think I'll get it done by finals but, getting it done by the weekend is a realistic goal. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
I threw the slinger out the door onto the ground outside of my garage, with a tag zip-tied to it saying " Dundee Oregon " but the postman must not have seen it ,,, because it`s still there.. Quote Link to comment
Juicebox
Maybe not enough postage with that. You might try throwing it into the UPS Store as you go by, that usually gets it done. Quote Link to comment
crackerjack69
PCC Sylvania. I would love a little help getting this done. I don't have too much internal engine experience so a lot of this is "new" to me. I went to Sylvania for Automotive Tech :D I have your oil slinger, pully and crank key in my hand. Hard to type while holding Datto parts. Come get 'em! Quote Link to comment
crackerjack69
Soooo.... Is it running yet? Quote Link to comment
Juicebox
Not yet. I've been pulling overtime at work to get stuff together for the holidays. I broke a bolt off in the engine block today putting on the part between the camshaft and the timing sprocket. Gotta get that out and then set the timing and put everything back together. Thanks for all the parts again! Quote Link to comment

Juicebox
Any buddy got some good tips for removing broken bolts? I got this little fucker holding me up from finishing. Quote Link to comment
crackerjack69
Put up a pic. Which bolt? Broke flush w/ the block... Or??? Quote Link to comment
Juicebox
So this is the bolt that broke off in the thingamajig that holds the camshaft in place So I began to wonder how necessary is this part on the camshaft that goes between it and the timing chain sprocket. This part here Connecting to this part here It would be amazing if it wasn't necessary, but I'm willing to bet it is I will probably pick up another one tomorrow from pick and pull. Laecaon
Cam retainer that stops the cam from sliding forward. I have one from a 210 head... Not sure if they car be mixed and matched though... Quote Link to comment
Juicebox
I figured it was for something like that. It would be so sweet if I just stumbled on one of those cam holders, thing in the second oic, not the first. One bolt is probably not going to cut it. Quote Link to comment
crackerjack69
LOLz, the peice the bolt is snapped off in is called a cam tower. The peice that the bolt holds in place retains the cam in the towers. Say you wanna pull the cam, you'd take that retainer off, and slide the cam out the front off the head. So... as far as necessary goes, I'd give it aboot a 9 of 10. Have you tried using a punch to get that bolt out? Or perhaps an "easy out"? Quote Link to comment
Juicebox
Well if you look carefully, you can see half of the bit to a bolt removal bit broken off in the broken bolt. Thinking a new cam tower might be the solution. Quote Link to comment
crackerjack69
You can come over again and get one from me if you like, as long as you promise to stop breaking your Datsun :P Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
I did something similar on my engine build. I was able to get mine out with a pair of small vice grip pliers. Quote Link to comment
Ratty260z
If you end up replacing the cam tower you need to replace all of them. They are align bored and need to match and be in the correct order. I would try to get that bolt out at all costs. :D Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Well then, I have a set of 4 if you need them. Quote Link to comment
