The torsion bars can take it. It's a truck, designed to carry a payload of upwards of what, 800 lbs. The L16/18 weighs about 260 lbs, the Z24 about 100 lb more. I found a weight for a V6 but it said 260 lbs and seemed low,but with aluminum heads... who knows.

The problem isn't so much the weight as it is the size. The torsion bars don't leave room for the exhaust. The Hardbodies that had VG30i engines had a lot wider torsion bar spacing. To get a VG in a 521 would probably mean re-engineering the suspension to widen the A-arm perches and eliminate the torsion bars.

Hey, good idea..."old skool" fenderwell exit headers...hmmmmmm they had those for the 70's muscle cars..wonder if you removed the inner panel and had the tubes come straight out towards the fenderwell...hmmmm...hmmmm.....oh yeah right!

Mike I've heard adding the vg to a 510 adds about 100lbs adding the ca18de takes off a few pounds. Just had to add that, I just descovered that the ca is actually lighter than a L motor. The ca I sold to Ray raised the front of his wagon after it was installed, weird huh?

yeah that guy, had the vg30de in the car before the TT, he had to fab a crossmember from a 240, put rack and pinion steering in it and fab up a custom steering linkage, to get the thing to drop all the way in, he also had to cut into the framerail for the exaust to clear..
