hang_510
...Sarcasm? Making my truck hood open the other way will prevent my truck from not driving...? no, not finishing the project will keep it from driving maybe it will be, if you leave the hood off  Quote Link to comment
MrRobatoGato
I'm finishing it.. I was looking into it.. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I know there's a pic somewhere of Pacoast521's Hardbody. He nabbed a Buick (I think) hinge and it opens from the front corner. Pretty trick  Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I was wrong. Opens from the front. His trucks thread. http://forum.ratsun.net/showthread.php?t=84&highlight=trucks ...and Pac you sneaky devil you, took me a minute to get the search to work on your name :D Quote Link to comment

MrRobatoGato
Perfect thanks for the help guys... Maybe i'll charge for advertisements.. to put on my hood... it'll be a great billboard for the shows.... Gotta finish the truck though... Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
i would do that, but im thinking about a titan front end swap..... Quote Link to comment
nismopu
Ummm S30 hinge design is pretty retarded for this app. IMO, because of the spring bars linking the two hinges. Chevy LUV's open the opposite way and have a very compact design that would work better for your 521. Theres one right now at 5 corners auto wrecking with an l18 in it and custom angle iron engine mounts. peace. Quote Link to comment
lynchfourtwenty
chevy love with l18?? Quote Link to comment
kiznook
Yeah....Z hinge would NOT be the way to go. I wasn't saying that the hood will keep the truck off the road, I said this type of thinking will keep it from driving. Get it driving well BEFORE tackling additional shit, especially cosmetic Quote Link to comment
djlotus
If you are serious about this look into older BMWs and some Saabs as well, they also had the hood open like that. Quote Link to comment
pope_face
Or you could go all the way and do it up like big trucks, where the entire front-end lifts up clear of the engine... That would actually be pretty cool. Quote Link to comment

Get it driving well BEFORE tackling additional shit, especially cosmetic I'm thinking from the other direction (mostly because of the extent of his build). Do it the way you want it before you start driving it. That way you can just enjoy the fruits of your labor. Not continue the labor after paint and body work are finished. Of course even after your finished and driving it around, I'm sure things will pop up that you'll want to do. Quote Link to comment
dat620
ck out the hinges on a mid to late 70'S toyota celica, they have no cross bars and are compact enough to work, i did some measurements on my 620 and i may try them..the celica i'm talking about is the fast back that kinda resembles the older mustangs..another good source as stated here is a luv truck from the 70's since your front end is fairly flat, the buick hinge has a large diameter cross bar, no room for a cross bar, i think.. Quote Link to comment
MrRobatoGato
I'm just running ideas right now as I sit and wait for paychecks to come in... I'm hoping to get everything up and running by the end of summer... thanks for all the input... Quote Link to comment
hang_510
because of the spring bars linking the two hinges. Yeah....Z hinge would NOT be the way to go. arent the bars to keep it open? theres an easy solution to keep it open...a plunger  use hood shocks Quote Link to comment
MrRobatoGato
I can always leave the hood off... Quote Link to comment
Bleach
shocks need replacing. The spring steel bars never wear out. ANYTHING Z related is good. Use the Z hindge. :D Quote Link to comment
