wildmaninid Posted July 13, 2011 Report Share Posted July 13, 2011 Well, after much coercing from others, and a huge amount of oics (which you guys can thank my droid for...never took any oics of previous builds) I am finally starting this out. This truck was a true survivor, and I am going to do a resotration of sorts. Color will be original, with alot of the flair of the original truck throughout. Upgrading the driveability has been first and foremost, and am planning a ka swap soon. I am going to start compiling oics from when i first bought it up through now. I will make a few posts as to not contaminate the first post with too much info. This is in July of 2010. Just sold my 07 ram laramie builder and paid off my bills. Found this clean 1977 longbox over in Missoula, Montana. Guy had it on there for a while, i got it for 800 and a roadtrip. Beauty part was i won 900 at the casino the night before, so this truck already started out free to me, with a lot of luck. At this point I have had the truck a month, and you can see I already put 18" titans on.. Lowered 3" blocks and torsions........cut bumps Put in HID hi and low beams, in crystal housings superfunk plaid seats and panels! the drivers and pass fenders are the only rust through on the truck This is the worst ouch on the truck..... I wasn't able to do much to the truck until I ws sure I was getting it to myself. Finally in march everything got settled and it was back to being wildman, and the lack of all that bs in my life has led us to here....... This is right after I completed my 4 wheel disc swap. I used the beebani system.......I see photobucket jettisoned some of my photos, this is the ONLY one I have of right after it was done....not sure if you can see them in there, but hey its an oic! Right before Canby, i installed my JDM as fuck taillights with amber turns......... And packed for canby! wildmaninid Posted July 13, 2011 Author Report Share Posted July 13, 2011 Ok, so after Canby my first plan of attack was making sure that my rust free truck stays that way. the next few oics are of stripping the interior floor down, prepping the surface, and applying bedliner to the floor! I had a pair of rustfree fenders that needed some work. As I was working on these fenders, I decided to clean, prep and bedline the inner fender wells too! And during shooting, second or third coat of basecoat.....There was no exact color match for this color is basecoat. I however tracked down a color used on 97-01 nissan micra's that is the modern equivalent........its VERY close and sexy! I used a fan off of an 01 dodge dakota, worked amazing, very tight fit! shoehorn! I was really wanting to keep the plaid interiorm but it was starting to wear down from age, and finding plaid upholstery for auto use is almost impossible. SO at canby I bought a nice seat cover from 79d50? (i think its his screenname), I took this, my door panels, the seat, kick panels and the shifter boot over to my neighbor, who is a very talented upholsterer and had her make all this come together for me! SO great! And now going in!!! A little out of sequence......the carpeting was shot in the truck. I REALLY didnt want to spend 150 bucks on carpeting for like a 720 or a hardbody and fuck with fitting it all in.......I was out at pull n save a couple weeks ago and ran across a ford courier that someone had started to restore then lost interest......it was filthy, but ill be damnded if there wasnt a nice, black aftermarket chunk of molded carpet in it. I bought it for 7$ and cleaned the fuck out of it, and here are the oics of it installed So far thats all she wrote. I will be working on this truck hardcore, as I have a ka swap coming up and will keep this thread updated. I do ALL of my own work, paint, body , mechanical everything. Not every ratsuner has this. I am lucky....plus i scour the shit out of CL to find parts and rigs lol..............hopefully make a road trip soon with the KA! Quote Link to comment
