The datsun kid Posted May 28, 2011 Report Share Posted May 28, 2011 hey fellas so my truck ( 71 521 with bebanni suspension up front) started making this horrible like rubbing noise when i turn so i jacked it up and figuered out what the noise is well i think anyways but i dont know what these are? (the rod in the picture connnected to the steering box) and did a bushing go in the pivot or something else? and can i get these from napa or somethin? thanks Quote Link to comment

wayno Posted May 28, 2011 Report Share Posted May 28, 2011 The arm that the two tierods go in to is the idler arm, you can buy them new at the parts stores or ebay. I can tell there is a bunch of red lines in the photo, but that is all I can make of it, what is rubbing? Quote Link to comment

yello620 Posted May 28, 2011 Report Share Posted May 28, 2011 A rubbing sound while turning is almost always a tire rubbing the frame or body. Idler arms don't 'rub' against anything. Or when all the grease inside is gone and then you have a metal-to-metal noise when turning. Quote Link to comment
