Don't bother waiting for farmer, just get it handled.

 

Jack up the front to take the weight off the wheels.

Block the frame.

Crawl under and you'll see a square headed bolt at the back of the torsion bars.

Loosen this bolt (1 each side).For evey inch you loosen the bolt the front of the truck will lower 2".

 

On mine I fully unthreaded the mounting bolt from the anchor, marked the torsion bar and where it is mounted in the front keeper with a white paint marker, slide the torsion bar out towards the rear of the truck, rotated them 1 spline, reinserted the torsion bar into the front mount, then threaded the bolt back in at the anchor.

 

It's actually easier done than said.

Here, I did a search for you. On my '72 521 it doesn't have the "C" clip, they just pulled out.

Friend needed help moving furniture about 100 miles away...

hes a datsun guy and he helps me out alot figured I would do him a favor back...

 

well guess who happens to have a small pickup.... ME.

 

So I fill up the 521 and check its fluids, and I hit the freeway....

Im cruisin I84 at 75. People pass and Im getting mad thumbs up... atleast 5 if not more :thumbup: ... Its a Nice sunny day and Im happy :).... Trucks running great!

 

as I switch lanes I have to look behind me because I dont have rearviews...

 

As Im lookin back I see smoke coming out between cab and bed...

 

Im not sure if I really seen it figure it must be glare off the old faded back window...

 

well I start smelling burning... gotta pull over!

 

Pull over, as I come to a crawl Im billowing white smoke!! :unsure:

 

shut her down... pop the hood.....

 

the radiator cap exploded off.... not just the cap.... a perfect circle where the cap mounted...

 

get my phone to call friend... no service! :(

 

radiator seems to have some water left in it... I got to make it 3 miles or so.. I can see exit in distance... I CAN MAKE IT!!! <_<

 

start the 3 mile journey

 

put it in 4th at 30 or so and cruise the side of freeway..

 

I get to the gas station at the exit

 

turn it off and coast it in....

 

well I use gas station phone, call friend..

 

we get some water in there and cap radiator with a wet rag....

 

go to radiator shop....

 

on the way it starts missing like crazy DAMNIT BLEW THE HEAD GASKET!!! :poop: :no:

my friend came out and towed me home....

 

well now the old 521 got a new motor...
