mr68gts
I've been scratching my head trying to match the ratios in my 4x4 620 so I can use 4 wheel drive on the road here in North east AZ where we get snow and I need it. (this way the Dana 20 transfer case don't end up on the ground haha!) I can get a 4.88 for the Dana 30 up front, but where do i locate the 88's for the H190 that came stock in my 76 620? THE 4.88's will actually work better anyway with the 33" tires I currently have on the truck. (or was there even 4.88's that would fit? unless I can find a 4.10 from something else to fit lol) thanks Paul Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
38100-Y4006 would be a 4.875 for a 09.79 - 03.83 720 truck H190. I'm not sure if that would work for your 620, though, since I believe there are different H190 diffs Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
38100 14900 38100 20659 38100 20600... Are all 39 crown/8pinion 4.875 ratio gear sets from the 521 with J13 motor. Matt I don't think there were any 4.875 used in the 620. The early L16 automatics were 4.625 but I think that was it. No 720 uses a set that high. Quote Link to comment
mr68gts
Mike, The 521's had an H190 rear end in them? Hmmm I learned something new today. Guess my day is done ha ha. Now are these part numbers still available through Nissan or only used. (we don't even have a Nissan up here. Closest one is Phoenix or Albuquerque!) Thanks for the info. Paul Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes and so did the 810 Maxima wagon, the '82-'83 200sx, the original 510 wagon, the Roadster and earlier trucks like the 411, 320. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
H190 4.88s were the only ratio used in '66-69 520s and 521s. They were also a common but not exclusive ratio in 72-73 620s. Some have 4.375s, which you already have. My 4X4, I'm going the other way. I don't want 4.88s because it makes it undriveable on the freeway without a 280ZX 5-speed, and that 5-speed doesn't have the proper 1st gear for a truck. Since I don't use 4WD on dry pavement I'll just put 4.11s in the back, which are fairly close to the 4.10s in front. Right now the 4.10/4.375 difference is ridiculous. But works in mud and snow. Problem is I don't have a set of 4.11s. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Problem is I don't have a set of 4.11s. What?? There is a Datsun part you don't own? Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Well, sure I don't. I don't own a cast-iron U67 head, the guy that had it wanted $300 for it. I also don't own a single Roadster-specific part. Err, well, I do have a Roadster diff but it's had truck side gears swapped in. I do own a 4.11, but it's installed in my '79. Should have said I don't have an EXTRA 4.11. Quote Link to comment

mklotz70
The 320's also had the 4.88's in them...just have to swap the side gears since the splines don't match the later trucks. Quote Link to comment
