yellowdatsun
A girl from our local newspaper interviewed me about 3 weeks ago at a local cruise-in car show. Thought it was odd, since my truck looks like crap. A neighbor showed me the printed article a few days ago. I didn't know, since I don't even get the paper! Just thought it was cool to see my ratty old Datsun pickup on the same page with some *much* nicer vehicles, IE: Jaguar XKE. Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Ryan welcome to Ratsun. I remember you had the cleanest 520 awhile back,,,all original & blue right? Id like to see more pics of your 521  Quote Link to comment
datsun dreamer
AWESOME!!!!! It's good to see people still appreciate the classics:D! Welcome to the forum:D! Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
Yeh, the blue one was mine. Man, do I ever wish I still had it. It was the nicest 520 I had ever seen. I'd love to know who has it now, see if she has a good home. I'll load up some pics of the V-8 521 as soon as I get a few more things fixed. It's been lowered 2 inches since that paper shot was taken. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
Did you lower it, or did it just go two inches lower after you dropped the V-8 in it?:) Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
The V-8 did lower the front end, but the PO cranked the torsion bars back up to stock height. I dropped the front back down, and put 2 inch blocks in the back. Now there's maybe an inch between the front fender and the tire, instead of three. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Congrats! Your 521 is a shining example of the true Ratsun spirit. Quote Link to comment
slow521
can you post some pics of the motor? Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Ryan i seem to remember your 520 being sold a few times in a short period. Did all that NOS stuff go with it? Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Awesome, your famous :D Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
Yep, all the NOS stuff went with it as part of the purchase. Sucks too, since the truck and the parts went to a guy who ended up selling the truck immediately after he got it, and who knows what happened to the parts. When you sell these kind of things, you always hope they get a good home, and when they don't, I regret the sale. Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
Here's a few more pics of the truck: The engine is a chevy SB 350, Edlebrock performer intake, and holley 675 cfm double pumper carb. Plasma cutters are awesome for cutting out gas pedals. The radiator is in the bed, and you can see the side exit exhaust. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Hey Ryan, I know Phoenix is a large city, but have you ever seen this Datsun 1200 truck running around or at a car show? It was for sale a few years ago, I'd like to track down the current owner and make an offer on it: 1976 Datsun 1200 in Arizona Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
Man, if I saw a 1200 truck for sale, I would have bought it without hesitation! Seriously though, I have never seen one of them here in Phoenix, and I've met a lot of Datsun guys. Quote Link to comment
dat620
nice ride dude, do u make many shows in the phx area?, in answer to the 1200 question, i do almost all the area cruise spots, and shows, and have never seen the truck before now, the photo looks like it was taken in sun city, a retirement spot west of phx, Quote Link to comment
irsa76
Well they do say there are2 types of 1200 ute owners, young and wishing they were young. Coming to think about it, the 1200 ute is starting to get a little thin around here as well. Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
I take the V8 521 to two of the local cruise in shows here in Phoenix. The Scottsdale pavillions car show at 101 and Indian Bend Rd, and the show at 83rd ave and Lake Pleasant pkwy. Both are saturday at ~5pm. Quote Link to comment
