VintageRice
Well, went and picked up a few things tonight. Got a fuel pump from a L20b. Also got a L20b intake manifold with a Weber downdraft carb. THANKS CHRIS ! ! As far as I can tell my fuel pump IS bad. I took the "in" line a put it in a can of fuel. And had only about a foot of line on the out side. No gas... I'll try the new -to-me free one from Chris. :) Can't wait to get that Weber cleaned up and giver a go. Quote Link to comment

VintageRice
Update: Got my Weber rebuild kit ordered. Have the carb apart. Took the Su's off and the header. Header was painted silver badly, over the top of flaking paint, over the top of rust.......So, I took it to the local sandblasters and got it blasted. Cost $20 bucks and totally worth it. Looked brand new. Bought a $8 can of header paint and wha-la. She's a bute! Also started stripping the black paint off of the grill. Whoever painted it scuffed it pretty well. That sucks. Got one of my saturn seats partally mounted. They fit pretty well. Going to get the carb rebuilt and bolt everything back on soon. Can't wait!! Anyone have a jetting baseline for a L18 with a L20b head for my 32/36 weber ??? OICS ! Sandblasted header Ready to spray One coat on. Lookin great! Header flange Tore down weber Engine Ready to strip After first coat of stripper. Almost all gone. Seat SU's L20b intake Quote Link to comment

510spaz
I'm so glad this car went to someone worthy of fixing it, It was a few blocks from my place. I told the guy I would help him fix it for his son, but he was too back and forth on just selling it. Anyways its looking good! Cant wait to see it at canby! Quote Link to comment

So you may know some of this cars history eh? I would be very interested in any info I could get regarding the cars past. I really don't know anything because the guy I bought it from said it was his friends car and he was just selling it for him. PM me and tell me a story. I'd be glad to hear anything. ;) Quote Link to comment
VintageRice
Got the Weber rebuilt and installed. Am having troubles with it though. You can read about the details in my Weber Woes thread here http://community.ratsun.net/topic/28246-weber-woes/page__p__418430__fromsearch__1#entry418430 Here is a video of the car running with the Weber. I think I'm going to start replacing the floors soon. I ant to get that done along with mounting the seats permanently and then doing a hand e-brake out of something. When thats done I'll do the exhaust. Quote Link to comment
VintageRice
Some progress this weekend, got the drivers seat out and rear mat to realy evaluate the floors. Going to jump on that next hopefully. Picked up and e-brake off a late 80's sentra. Hope that'll work out. Took my troubled carb to napa and had them soak it and give it a hot wash. Got it home and still couldn't get the accelerator pump to squirt. Figured out that the two passages that let fuel into the diaphragm were still clogged. Took alot of tapping the carb body with a heavy screwdriver handle, while blowing 120psi through it for it to start to bubble slightly. After a few more minutes of tapping and blowing and spraying carb cleaner i finally got it to open up!!! never so happy to see bubbles... So, put it all back together(thank goodness these are simple carbs and it only takes a few minutes) and bolted it on and low and behold it squirts!!! Theres still lots of bugs to work out but at least it RUNS!!! See video. Also picked up some mesh wheels. They are in the vid as well. Enjoy! Quote Link to comment
Jester
Curious to see how you do your ebrake setup. I am thinking of going to a floor mounted one as well. Seems like so many newer cars have nice center consoles that have provisions for this style of ebrake. Quote Link to comment

Seems like so many newer cars have nice center consoles that have provisions for this style of ebrake. Yeah, I gotta get the seats mounted first to see where there will be room but I think it'll work out pretty good. The sentra e-brake mounts on a flat surface, both bolts just face down. So we will see! BIG NEWS I DROVE MY CAR ! ! ! ! ! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: It was only a half mile to the end of my driveway and it spit and sputtered most of the way but it drove under it's own power and I am stoked!! Lug nuts are ordered for the Meshies. (Thanks Joby) Progress makes me happy. Few oics coming....... Quote Link to comment
VintageRice
Took one of my wheels and mocked it up what it might look like slammed. Me likey. Also picked up this little gem today. THANKS CHRIS ! ! Sorry for the poor quality, cell phone pics..... Quote Link to comment

VintageRice
Drove it again today, this time in the daylight. It was cool. I ahven't even touched the brakes, they are frighteningly bad. Needs attention. Joby got me lugnuts so I got my wheels bolted on. Sweet. I was sick of looking at it all jacked up in the front sooo....... I chopped the springs. When it was all said and done I had taken 2 and 3/4 coils out of each side. Looks much better. This will work for now untill I can get my 280zx struts made up with some coilovers. This pic is with 2 coils cut out. And here it is with almost 3 coils gone. And the way it sits now. Much better. Carnage... Quote Link to comment

VintageRice
haha, gonna need some camber plates You'd think! But I was trying to get some negative camber to try to make those tires fit better and it just now looks like the sidewalls are even. Rear has no neg camber either. Quote Link to comment

VintageRice
Built myself a fancy new exhaust today ! ! Used 2" pipe. Got some random bends, hangers, and a glasspack from the local shop. Also picked up a stainless braided flex pipe. I put the flex pipe right off the header so I could ridged mount the rest of the exhaust. It worked out great, no crossmember rattle that I was concerned about.
I was originally going to use the glasspack just as a resonator and use a turbo muffler or a ebay special at the very back. But I fired it up and liked the way it sounded so I just straight piped it from there back. I can always quiet it down more later if need be.
Oics......... Quote Link to comment
