Mini-L320
I have no power going to the Black and Yellow wire that sends the signal from the switch (turn key) to the Starter solenoid. And yes I did turn the key to the start position and the wire reads nothing. i saw that the Black n yellow wire goes to a box with a couple of other wires. Voltage Regulator? and can that go bad causing the black/yellow wire not to get any power? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Place tranny in Park or Neural. I can't find this black box with the black/yellow stripe wire going to it. Test the output from the ignition switch. Quote Link to comment

MikeRL411
I have a Manual Tranny. Replace the 20 amp fuse and clean its contacts. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
CHECK THE OUTPUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. If you gots 12V there, but not at the starter, the problem is the wire circuit between The other boxes are not related (at least, not supposed to be) and put yor manual transmission in nuetral Quote Link to comment
elmerfudpucker
Ummm, are you getting 12 to the switch first? Quote Link to comment
Mini-L320
I havent tested it yet. But I will do so and let you guys know. yes the tranny is in N and I also press the clutch even tho u dont have to on older cars Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
mike wrote Replace the 20 amp fuse and clean its contacts. do this first then ck out the switch. then ck if wire insulation might look smashed or maybe stretched. Wire could be broken under insulation but still looks visable good. Quote Link to comment
Mini-L320
Im getting on that right now. I'll let you guys know what goes on. Quote Link to comment
Mini-L320
Yes i do have power to the switch. Can i just make a wire straight from the switch to the starter solenoid? (replacing the Black/yellow wire) cause ripping all the wire insulation will be a pain in the ass just to find that wire. Quote Link to comment
Mini-L320
Replace the 20 amp fuse and clean its contacts. Which Fuse is that one for? I've checked all my fuses in the box and they are all good. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
can you see the color codes of the wire at the switch?????? If you know which wire feeds the switch then you know where the blk yellow wire contack is then romove the plug and ohm ck it and put the key to START and see if you get a short. Thats if back of the swithc has a plastic plug. maybe the older cars the wire is soldered on the back I dont know. If its a solder type I guess you could just wire a bypass wire along the harness and out to the selinoid as You stated. Can you throw in some photos Quote Link to comment

Fuses that have a crack in the ribbon to metal cap can touch just enough to show continuity but will not pass any current larger than that equivalent to a mouse fart. Quote Link to comment

But thanks alot you guys, really appreciate it. Quote Link to comment
510kevin
not to threadjack, but where does the yellow/black wire go to? i just got my 510 today and this wire is just hanging out of the harness near the starter. any help would be greatly appreciated!! EDIT i found out where that wire goes, sorry, im still new!!!! Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
if your car starts it Aint that wire. The other could really be the oil switch wire but you know that right?Makes sense so you must have a mechanical oil gauge Quote Link to comment
