Ok here it is, sold my 70 viper blue 521 in my avatar, and this is the new project. Bought it from the original owner. 91k original miles on it when I bought it for 900$ (actually 300 cause I won 600 at the casino on my way to get it YAY) Thanks CL for the find. Added HID's right away, fixed the brakes, 200$ for the 18"titans on CL, 304$ for the tires on ebay and the super plaid interior, that was included! There is no rust through on the truck other than the drivers fender in front of the door, it was garage kept and has a perfect Dash module. Completely rust free floors too!! Truck also had factory installed A/c but I uninstalled it all. Added in the Tach, and electronic Dist, intermittent wipers and lowered her down, many more pics and project updates to come! I have never seen an original underhood area this clean, i seriously want to buff it out it is so nice!

Not bad find for a north idaho redneck!

Not bad for original interior. I plan on keeping it but I will be changing the paint color. Going with 2009 nissan altima silvermist green..........since the interior is white yellow and green plaid I figured that was the best color to choose, snce I have already had yello and white datsuns........... here is a color sample....

Man, that will be a  color combo! That shade of light green with that interior?! That is one of the coolest retro interiors I've seen on any pre '81 car/truck.

My mom used to work for the Datsun dealer here in town, and they had another car lot over in montana, she used to ferry Datsuns between the 2 dealers........she drove it all, pickups of all makes, z's fairladys, patrols etc. We found a picture lastnight of her driving a 77 620 with the plaid interior.........another old guy i am friends with worked there doing pdi on the datsuns and he just loved the plaid!! I just think it will be an awesome combo. Thanks for all the great comments you guys, I will keep posting pics as the truck progresses! I am very blessed to have found such a solid original platform.

As fas as I know plaid came on several datsun trucks. All the people I knowwho worked at dealerships always spoke about them. I just love it. Thanks alot for all of the comments and praise. I cannot wait to get this build done. My 521 took 13 months and I didn't drive it at all......this one runs and drives so sweet I just don't want to stop and do a full tear down.........we will see what happens as time wears on. This particular truck was found over in Missoula, montana. I buy cars from the insurance auto auction there and am always searchin CL there for any finds when I am there.....and here she was, on there for the 3rd 45day term and I was the FIRST person to call on it. I was extremely lucky to find it and the 4.5 hour drive down there (1 way) was worth it for this baby.

I will keep adding more pics and updates as I progress.

thinking about a longbox4life tattoo............LOL

  • 10 months later...

So went through and found my thread again. A lot has happened in the last few months. Went through a pretty crappy divorce, and have had to move a few times, but luckily this has given me more 620 time, and even though I have had a huge lack of time to get back to ratsun, I have been accomplishing a few things on the truck, and am going to atttend Canby this year. In february, I was able to round up everything for the 4 wheel disc conversion. Brackets front and rear from beebani and a few trips to the junkyards and a little help from ratsun, and this is the easiest, coolest and best mod to driveablilty I have ever done to a vehicle. And as a bonus i spent just barely over 400$ on the whole setup.

I also just got the "jdm" style tail lights for the truck (with amber turn lenses) and have them hooked up as well. It was interesting figuring out how to seperate the turn signals so it worked right, but it is a sweet upgrade and looks very good.

I will post oics once my new computer gets here tomorrow!

Cant wait to see everyone at Canby!
