schassisowner
i also am looking for one; i want to convert my l28 to a front stump, so id need the oil pickup as well..... and finding a 810 or first gen maxima in a junkyard is proving difficult in the northeast Link to comment
Sudo
what L motors had Front sump pans???????? i know 510 pans are different than say 521 and 620 oil pans(all rear sump) hmm, I'm curious as well. I'm building the long-rod 2.1l LZ20b for my 520, and according to Charlie I need the L16 oil pan to clear the x-member. Could that possibly be what the OP is referring to? If so, I need one too! Charlie69
Sudo keep the 620 Pan also, I have run into an snag with the 521 pan the 620 works better with the 520. I will be posting some pictures and explanations in my build thread. Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
a 510 pan will not fit on a 521 cuase it will hit the center steering arm. Im not positive if 521 and 620s pans are the same but I think they are different. Im still waiting to see where are these FRONT sump pans Datsunfreak is talking about Link to comment
Charlie69
Here is a picture that shows the difference in the 620 & 521 oil pans. The black one is the 521. Link to comment

Charlie69
Here maybe this will help. The board laying in front of the pans was used to line up the front edges of pans before picture was taken. Some how I lost the word silver aft the 620 in the picture. Link to comment
ppeters914
Sorry, but both your pans look identical to me unlike the pics chiquapen posted. FWIW, I looked at mine, and it's a front sump. Link to comment
Charlie69
I can not do any more than show you a picture detailing the diference and explaing it. Link to comment

ppeters914
I guess the red lines in the picture and the caption does not work for everyone. What the....????? Those red lines and comments weren't there earlier, I swear! My point is that, while the sumps start at different points on your pic, they're still basically the same whereas you can see the difference in chiquapen's pics. Are your pans matching front to front, i.e. are the right edges both the front of the engine? If so, both your pans are rear sumps. Link to comment
pharouh
Please let me barge in here. I'm putting an L16 out of a 510 into a 620. Does that mean I have to change pans and oil pickups? Thanks Link to comment
Charlie69
Keep the original 620 oil pan on your 510 L16. Link to comment
pharouh
Keep the original 620 oil pan on your 510 L16. That's the problem, Charlie. I don't have the 620 oil pan. All I have is the 510 pan. This is for another truck. Thanks Link to comment
