kansascity1
word, can't wait for the frontend pics. I need to get mine down, but I'm still trying to figure out exactly how I wanna do it. Quote Link to comment
pugz
i looked uner mine and it looks to be jsut a basic set up. firestore 2500 bags mounted to the lca and a bag bracket welded to the frame. i have 1 shock up front lol. need to either take out one or add another one Quote Link to comment
kansascity1
did they dish the frame to clear the bag? Quote Link to comment
pugz
i dont think they did. though the front bags are slightly touching the spindle. i want to switch them to slam bags so they are thinner and wont touch Quote Link to comment
kansascity1
From what I've been told the only bag you can run without rubbing is a Contitech (w/out dishing the frame). Just what I've heard though. Quote Link to comment
pugz
going from slam's specs the firestones have a max diameter of 6.4" for the 2500 bag but the slam max dia. is 5 Quote Link to comment
tnip
what about the inflated and deflated heights? the same? Quote Link to comment
pugz
according to slam their width stays constant Quote Link to comment
tnip
no the height of the bag. also there's no way the width could be consistant from delated to inflated, that would only work if it was a cylinder, not a bag. Quote Link to comment
pugz
the slam stay constant and the max dia inflated on a slam is 5 inches for a slam re 5 bag. the deflated height is the same as a firestone. go to www.slamspecialties.com and look at the compare section. tangent
Im in Oklahoma and have never seen that truck running around.. Did you pick it up in the City??? When you start digging into the front end.. be very carefull to save the front wheel bearings.. Finding replacements will be most probably impossible. Quote Link to comment

pugz
ok here are the best pics i could get for now Quote Link to comment
kansascity1
And that is why the frame needs to be dished. It allows the bag plate to be mounted closer to the frame and gives relief for the bag, which in turn keeps the bag from rubbing. Thanks for the pics, by the way. Quote Link to comment
kansascity1
Steven, check out those tie rod ends, they don't look factory to me. You think we ought to look into something like that or just notch the frame? Quote Link to comment
yello620
Those tie rods are a kit that is made by TRW (federal mogul) or MOOG. Cant remember at the moment. I would be curious to know if there are any part numbers on the parts at all. The number would be stamped into it in the flat spot around the grease zerk. And how long is the adjusting sleeve, thread size? Jason Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Yep, those are moog parts. I sourced them through rockauto.com and then picked them up at the local Action Auto...didn't have time to wait for shipping. MOOG Part # ES2340A {Complete Tie Rod Assembly} Frt Strg; LH; At Steering Arm; 2WD MOOG Part # ES2339A {Complete Tie Rod Assembly} Frt Strg; RH; At Steering Arm; 2WD I got the entire steering setup for about $200 Quote Link to comment
pugz
ya i wasnt thinking the steering was all factory. im gonna get he slam bags and see if that helps with the rubbing. ill keep yall informed on that. the bags barely touch the spindle at full lift. not sure about jsut at regular ride height. im gettin the brakes fixed and my viair compressors installed should have it back tomorrow. also installing new rocker switches for the airride and a viair gauge Quote Link to comment
