yep yep. i do 70mph at 4000rpm's with my l16 and 4 speed. i assume you guys are redlining at 90mph???? i can do 80+ but cant really look down at my tach when going that fast.

the main thing is not to break the white knob. nobody wants to sell them and then they want around $30 for them.

you can try taking the white knob off and using some vise grip to get it to move back and forth . other than that what i do is disconnect the heater hoses/controls and remove the heater box. then you can take a wooden dowel and stick it in the bottom hose opening and tap the valve out to clean and reassemble. there is one little very tiny screw that holds the valve in. or the core will come out leaving the heater box in. the face on the box has 3 clips. also remove the hoses and duct boot.

it amazes me how much people charge for their 521's these days.

mine broke so i need one. actually just the handle. let me run outside and look and see if the handle comes off....... yep it comes off. so a knob or the whole cable with the knob will work for me.

has anyone ran this setup? i have the air cleaner adapter but when i put the original air cleaner my hood wouldn't close. i have one of those 2 inch tall carb base adapters that i'm going to swap out for a regular one but am wondering if it'll fit after that?

nice fisch. i've never seen the seat covers before. i wonder if there was more than one style. i'll dig a little. all of the visors and headliners were the off white color i believe. might have been a very light blue version of the visors. all dash caps and dash pand (top and bottom) were black. i think the 520 may have had a few different dash pan colors. actually i think i have seen a few minor variations on the diamond patterns on the visors. i'll look. i really dont think they ever came with rugs from the factory. i have a original floor mat i an try to get some pics of.

it should run in the little space between the cold and hot. if it runs consistently 1/16 high or low you can calibrate the needle by adjusting it in the back of the gauge. you may have a faulty sending unit. may need a radiator flush. may have a 190 degree thermostat installed. clogged radiator. does it diesel when you shut it off? does your fuel gauge read full when you fill the tank up? generally when the gauge volt reg is bad they make the gauges read low. i put in a after market tripple gauge in one of my 521's combined with my original gauge so i can compare the 2. low water overheating will make it run a little hot. the dead give away that there is a problem on a 521 is how hot the heater is. if its hot you have a overheating issue. if it;s luke warm the engine temp is fine. when 521 engines are working properly they are said to very little heater/heat output.

2 bolts on each side. 4 bolts under the windshield. leave the wires and switches and cluster in. lower the steering wheel and unplug the 2 wire harness plugs under the glove box. undo speedo cable. done. maybe unplug radio antenna and pay attention to all after market add ons and where the wires may go through the fire wall. unhook manual choke if there.

original door panels. kinda hard to see the pattern.

i'm sure what you really want to know is what the pattern on the door panels look like and the seat pattern? are you putting in a rug or the original style mat? i'm not sure if they all came with mats or not. beware of the chrome window crank reproductions on ebay. quality isn't that great. dont get the rubber backed window channels either. their too tight for rolling the windows up and down. i'm trying the felt ones from idcozy soon. the repo fuse boxes are ok. tool bag. the wrenches are really hard to find.
