  1. Whoopsies I brokt it. Gonna go pop my w53 head off and see what the problem is. Sounds like the exhaust is coming through the carb. My guess is a dropped valve seat. I drove it by the machine shop during lunch and he said it sounded like a intake valve is open. He quoted around $300 depending on parts. I know I need valve seats as 3 of them are sunk past the point of any adjustment. Now I'll get to see if I got flat tops or not.
  2. They all came off the boats in the west.
  3. Wayno may have new ones. Message him.
  4. It may be the choke stuck as indicated from mike. I cant tell from the video if there is any slack in the throttle cable.
  5. Use photobucket and then copy the image link and paste it in your message.
  6. Welcome to Ratsun Datson4life. I cant wait to see your pics. What year is your truck?
  7. They are dated so maybe the whites are on 70 and earlier or 70 only?
  8. The white is more rare from what I've seen. All 3 of my 521's have black belts which would have been factory brown, light blue, green. The belts are not interchangeable. I recently bought a set of white belts out of the red 521 seen below that also had a red seat. Also there is a little spring loaded push pin on the underside of the latch so you can take the belt off the latch. It's not easy.
  9. Welcome to Ratsun. I love that rack. Please post a interior pic and engine bay.
  10. Very nice. Thank you very much.
  11. Reach under the dash and make sure your plug on the ignition switch is snug.
  12. What I can't stand is having to click on to a thread because the topic is so vague you cant tell what it's about.
  13. I use this. The upholstery shop down the street recommended it to me. "spf 40 for your shit" sold at napa. http://303products.com/index.php/303r-aerospace-protectant-32oz.html?SID=tntuunftsmpvhr4aa0jitvtr43
  14. Yeah it's definitely not that. I only run corrosion free sealed type cables. I learned my lesson with the painted black and red terminals the hard way many years ago. I would trouble shoot it when it happens but by the time I get out the truck it's working again. Hasn't happened for a while. I mean it could be and it's a connection problem somewhere but it doesn't give me any time to find it.
  15. Glad you got it working. Wiring issues can be a pain. Chasing down blinker problems, charging problems ect. This hasn't happened for a while but sometimes my 72 just looses power and dies then the power blinks back on and thats with new everything including fusebox
  16. Yeah you have a mystery relay box on the firewall with non original wires. If you want to try to have one of these smarter people try to help you trouble shoot it thats fine. But what I do when I get a new to me vehicle is remove all the non stock added on after market stuff to get back to bare bones as close as possible. It becomes really hard to trouble shoot and fix previous owners hack jobs. I for one would take that fuse box down to the machine shop and have it sand blasted and then find a cover for it. Probably cost you $10 plus a top maybe another $10 if you post a ad in the wanted section. Check for cracks in the base of the fuse box if you remove it. As far as the mystery box you should have 4 relays on the inner right fender. horn, head lights, e1 or e2, voltage regulator. The link you posted is for a L521 which I dont see the e1 or e2 relays which I think is for the dual points distributor. Here is a wiring diagram for the pl521. I know I'm not being much help here. I'm not great with wiring. When I got my red 71 521 the voltage regulator wires had been cut along with everything else so I just replaced the whole engine bay harness with a good used uncut one for $40. Click on diagram to enlarge.
  17. As with the original poster mine stay open til about 35mph. I just bought a set out of the junk yard and it was a pain in the ass to get them out. For those who have done it and think it's easy good for you but I had to drop down the whole window regulator mechanism with the glass and that inner door handle shaft. I dont think I could get them back in if I had too without a long fight. Since it's my beater I'm going to leave them just the way they are. All the wing windows on my 3 521 close around 30-40 mph.
  18. Well I had to do something since most of my drive time to and from work is on the freeway. I have this screw on my antenna just sitting there so I decided to utilize it.
  19. Very nice. Welcome to the greatest Datsun forum on earth.
  20. ARGHH!! I have to work Saturday.
