  1. Curious what air horns/stacks you are going to run... I'm looking for a cheap solution. DGV main jets drop right in. I'm going to put these on my L20b in the next few months.
  2. Thank you 510kevin!! Those are the exact rims I wanted specs of!!
  3. The rim thread is nice, but its for posting rims... not rim fitment/ rims on cars...
  4. Yeah, I've seen that site before. its nice and useful, but it has little to no pictures of how they look on the car. Also as you said a bit outdated.
  5. Hey all, I got this idea from toyotacressida net where they have a wheel fitment gallery thread, I thought it would be a nice resource to have on here. Basically just a sticky thread where you post a picture of your wheel/ fitment, offset, tyre sizes, suspension setup, fender work, ect to give an idea of what fits... and a separate thread for z-cars? Maybe some offset measuring info in the main post too. I see lots of people asking "will X fit in blah offset???!!1/?1/!" ect, We have a wheel/tire section now and that's great, I think this would be a nice addition to it. Thoughts? edit, Quote from VintageRice, thanks for making this template! This can be a very valuable resource for all datsun peoples!
  6. So tempted to buy kosei K1's for my goon... 15x7/15x8 staggered new rims... I cant tell if they look good on a goon or not!

With 195-45 or 185-50/45 tires... stretchie boso?

Thing is these are flat face rims... no lip, ect. I'm unsure how that looks on 510's!

  7. How do you have it hooked up? ballast resistor on the coil? Need info... this might help, from datsun 1200 wiki.. http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=Matchbox_Testing quote from hainz, the dwg shows what I have on my 510. the blk/wht is the 12volt ON from fuse box, will call this the HIgh side. the blk/blu should go to the lower side (voltage) of the ballast resisitor. the blk/grn will go to the +side coil. this completes the circut to cut the voltage/current to the coil as Pertronix or POINTS want a low current otherwise the points will burn up. Pertronix want under 4 amps that means about 3 ohms. PS the blk/grn and blk/blu are shorted(C clipped) under the tape a few inches . so if these wires are swapped from the ballast or +coil, its still OK.
  8. Just spotted 510 wagon in SF again... looks like 69 model, same one I saw a few months back primered bubble flares/hood, looks like he just put on some WIDE rims with agressive stretch looked awesome, went by too quick to get a pic.
  9. H150? Those are hardly ideal for drifting. Are you going to weld it up? Curious on how this thing is going to perform with the smaller datsun engine and modified stock suspension setup!
  10. I just flipped the 4th/overload leaf on my goon, I painted and greased the springs which softened them up and made em more springy, dropped the car about 1". If you leave em rusty they will probably be stiffer. Diff slaps a lot more on the bad roads around here, I would honestly like to add another leaf to the pack to stiffen it up even more and stiffer shocks. Here is what it looks like with the 4rd overload leaf flipped on top of the pack. You might be able to flip the 3rd leaf for even more stiff/drop... then again I have no experience with this. Make sure you have big c-clamps(6-8") and a screwdriver to align the leafs!
  11. I'm suprised nobody has started ripping on the toyota 7M. Head bolt torq, LOL.
  12. lots of low end... would be nice for a drift car maybe. I'd put one in my cressida. Nice to see manufacturers going towards fuel economy turbo!!
  13. Still overheating, new water pump, headgasket, thermostat, electric fan...what are the chances of a 3000 miles autometer sender or gauge to read bad? :S

  15. bah, exhaust leak made me think my valves where hitting...

  16. wtf... horrid rattling noise from the engine now... cams at 10&2 degree at TDC, and it does not rattle when cranking... timing is good... Dunno what to try next.

      Oil pressure?

Look for loose bolts ... tighten everything a touch ... heat shield ... bolts and nuts .... see if timing chain has too much slack or stretch ...

went to replace the headgasket, the old one was good! slapped a new one on, I timed the chain @ tdc... seems tight, there is no heat shield ect... everything is tighetened down, I only repalced gaskets. Everything else has ~3000 miles on it. Oil pressure goes right up to 60psi, just filled up with new oil...

  17. Flip the third leaf, its rediculusly easy to do and free. I painted mine and used grease inbetween the leafs, gave it a bit more spring but seemed to softed them up a little. I used brake part grease, has a mixture of different lubricants that seem to work nice for leafs.
  18. My timing sprocket has no V notch!! what do!!

make one... look at your old one and put the mark in the same place on the new one..

  19. Damn those XXR 527;'s look sick on it... I doubt It'll end up down here but I'll keep an eye out.
  20. I have little advice cause i bought mine as an engineless learning project. If you are mechanically savvy and have a general knowledge of cars, you can most likely fix any problem with a 510 faster than any modern car(enough to get it down the road). Just get a shop manual.. haynes guide or whatever. Your 17! An L20b with 32/36 is plenty of fun and power to push a 510 along nicely and not get in too much trouble! Do you have the driving ability to handle a KA or SR in a 510?(had to be asked, I mean no insult.) fun as hell until you go into a tree. Welcome to Ratsun! Eastbay, yo! Check out the santa clara monthly meeting! I bought my goon when I was 16, im 18 now.
  21. With shortened 510 struts/ MR-2 rear illumina shocks highest height has no wheel gap, FYI. I run the stiffness at the 1st or 2nd setting. Plenty stiff for roads around here!
  22. wait- what have I done to drop my rep by 3? :|
