im not saying dont do it, and i do encourage it, just take your time, and be organized. make sure to follow the torque sequences too. 10/30 should be good in there. change the tranny fluid too. when you tear it apart, look for the problems. look for leaks, and replace the bad gaskets while its already apart. oh and give us pics of it gettin done :)

i think it would be a lot cleaner and safer to move your computer and the extra relays, under the dash or in the glove box...

you've never changed the oil your self... and your going to replace the head gasket on this motor... hmmm get your self a manual, and follow every step very carefully

i say get a new fender for the z car and drive it, also keep driving the datsun till the motor completely goes, and then swap to a ka24de.

where are you located at? maybe some one on here can give you a hand. idk where rialto is at...

i would listen to banzai, everyone on here wil tell you to talk to him if you need advice on a l series, i would check to see what you have for sure for a motor

my first "datsun" actually a nissan now, was a 720, but that got me to this site, so im glad and it got me into datsuns then i got my 2 71 521's, then choped up the parts truck and traded the good driving one for a dime, so technicallt it was a 720

ok so heres an option.. how about i save the ka swap for a while.. and this winter i handle the rust issues. im thinking a tube frame front end like this..... cut the strut towers are my main concern, i think i can manage the floor pans. but this would save this car from the crusher, and make it stronger also anyone done this to a dime yet?

my thoughts exactly.. but i figure that would be one less datsun on the road, but then again how many can this one keep on the road also from its good parts? i would make this my parts car, but this is the only dime i know about around here. so i figure i will do the motor and drive train and suspension, and by the time im done with that and everything, maybe i will already have a way better datsun, and i can switch it all over to the good car, and then i wasnt really at a loss. plannin on a ka swap this winter.
