  1. I can show a pic of the pre-rust removal, but now it has POR15 and Bed Liner over it, so no after pics.
  2. I used the safest rust remover on my floor boards and other parts. For the floor boards, I built a funnel underneath to a bucket. Got a fish tank pump, with hose and just plugged it in and let it flow over the flooor boards. 24 hours later no more rust...washed it and applied POR15. The Safest Rust Remover is costly but its biodegrable, non-toxic, which is why I went with it. If you use it, make sure its in a cool place out of the heat and sun due to its evaporation rate. Another advantage to it is that its reusable, just pour it through a filter to clean out the crud and your set to use it for the next set of parts. It fully removes paint and anodizing too. Forgot to mention, it will NOT remove POR15 that has been properly applied.
  3. Hi Bonvo, I am not sure of the paint code. The guy I had do the body work could not remember the paint can was covered in paint so it was not visible. I can tell you that it is a Diamat Paint, with Pearl in the Clear Coat. The pearl is not noticeable until the sun hits it. Thanks for information on bumpers guys. Going to take down some notes on it.
  4. I would love to know where you obtained genuine nissan outer squeegees at that would fit my B210.
  5. There are a few simple things that can be done on these cars to make them funner. 1) 2" Exhaust (if requires a catalytic converter for emissions, get a modern one they breathe better) Opening the A-Series motors up takes away the sluggishness. 2) A weber 32/36 DGEV Down draft carb is supposed to make a very nice difference. 3) Getting a hotter spark will also make an improvement. You can pull a full 14.25 volts directly off the battery to the coil for this via a Bosch Relay. Your essentially taking the hot wire to the coil and using it to power the relay instead. Then positive power off the battery through the relay to the positive terminal on the coil. If you were to choose to go with a bigger engine, the A15 gets more power primarily in the low rpm range due to a longer stroke. Switching over to an L Series engine is possible with a change in the Cross Member, but as I have not done this I cannot give details. The gents at datsun1200.com probably have it memorized though. I would say since your getting a new exhaust anyways you might as well do the 2" exhaust from the manifold back with a modern CAT for starters. See how it makes you feel. For price idea without a CAT I paid $160.00 for a 2" exhaust with a turbo muffler on my 75 B210.
  6. I run tinted windows on the side. Grey, allows me to see out at night. I tinted those myself, but I will be having the hatchback glass done professionally. I have to be careful with the tint though as I am not running side mirrors, thus visibility is very important.
  7. I thought I would share where I am at on my Datsun B210, and yes, I need rims. The paint job got scratched up during assembly and needs redone, not to mention it had not been fully buffed out smooth. And I really need to obtain Euro/Aussie style bumpers. Plans: Obtain better bumpers. Mag Rims Weber DGEV 32/36 5 Speed Transmission Finish the Interior - I need to make a Center Piece for a Stereo. Get different front seats. Eventually switch out to 280Z Struts Take it back to the body shop and have him redo the paint job, better this time by removing all the old paint and polishing it out. But hey, its now a daily driver and gets me to where I need to be to make the money to continue working on it [until the 4 speed dies]:D
  8. I forgot to add, the small rear windows, I got new rubber for those by purchasing an appropriate size Trunk Rubber from JC Whitney for about $15.00 I think. For the Door Rubber I found some good rubber from a 79-82 210 Hatchback and mounted it. Some of the Pegs did not line up and in those instances I cut and glued, but it worked like a charm. Window Squeegee Rubber/Outer. I have had NO luck what so ever in finding something to replace these yet. For performance and gas mileage improvement, put on a 2" exhaust, allowing these A Engines to breath better makes a world of difference. That is manifold on back. Also, since its a 78, it has the old charcoal type Catalytic Converter, if you have emissions then a modern converter breathes much better (far less restrictive). If you do not need the converter then just the 2" on back with a turbo muffler will work well. It cost me $160.00 for exhaust and muffler, its bit loud though on acceleration, fairly quiet when cruising. For the rusted areas, descale the rust then clean it well. Apply POR15, no more rust issues, and it will not get worse. You just have to make sure the rusted area is very clean before applying. 1 Qaurt of POR15 covers 96 square feet, thats 2 coats for $44.95, makes a great undercoat. It is UV Sensitive though, so best for hidden areas or underneath a paint job. Welcome Aboard, good luck with the car.
  9. I purchased some new window rubber for the front and back but do not need it. The front rubber is the correct one, but the rear one I have says Mazda on it. Get me a measurement of Height/Width on that rear window and I can check if it will fit. The front one has grooves for the chrome the rear rubber I have does not.
  10. Thought I would share this information. http://www.minilink.me/Fuel Sending Unit/ Purchased it on June 19th, got it this Saturday. Not bad considering it came from Kuwait, and the Seller followed up with me regarding the type of vehicle. Works Great!:D Nice to know how much gas I have left again and only $34.00.
  11. In response to those grills, I was out on the web this last week and came across a site that was selling all sorts of B210 Grilles including the type on this car I believe. Don't ask me the where/what/who I just remember seeing it a photo with lots of Grilles in it that were for sale. I could have been searching for 120Y, 1200 or Sunny on ebay.
  12. One of these days I am going to get pulled over, then it will get interesting. I get to smile at the nice Police Officer and advise him My License is Signed w/o prejudice UCC 1-207. Then I get to tell him pursuant to the Constitution he can only pull me over for 3 reasons. Criminal, Investigative, Interview....then we run through what that means. After which once we determine he can't pull me over for criminal or investigative leaving just Interview (which I can terminate at any time)..I leave. If he gets insistent about the Civil Stop, I refuse to sign the Presentment. No Law exist that requires me to sign a ticket, THEN if it goes to court, I ensure its under a Licensed Judge complete with Court Recorder and say "In Propria Persona" which means I have shown up representing myself. Not having a Lawyer and failure to follow Due Process of Law means the Court being a General Court has no Authority. Only a Special Court based upon Warrant or Summons is Valid, which requires a Victim and a Crime. No Victime No Crime, No Crime NO Warrant, No Warrant No Court Appearance. I may win I may lose.....who knows. But I will be damned If I am going to continue to let Offices which operate on Delegated Authority from the People continue to be used to Abuse the People. Wish me luck on this one.
  13. Thanks much. I will give it a shot today after work.
  14. Some Information: When I go around a corner, if I hit a bump or dip the car hops. Yesterday, I had the rear-end jacked up so I could run it in gear to see if speedometer cable was spinning and BOTH rear wills spin forward. Locked or Welded Posi Rear-End? The rear end came out of a 78 B210GX Auto, so it should be a 3:9 Rear, but POSI TRAC?
  15. I am an ex army brat. Born and Raised in Germany from 63-78. That video makes me homesick.:D
  16. Welcome Aboard, For parts, a lot of B210 and 210 Parts interchange with the Datsun 1200. There are new parts available at http://www.rockauto.com. For information specific to the Datsun 1200 aka B110 might I suggest the following Link to datsun1200.com http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=Datsun_1200_encyclopedia Check out the body electrical system section and under W there is Wiring Diagram. Bear in mind that site is Australia so they are Right Hand Drive vehicles but otherwise alot is similar.
  17. It really only takes 2 to make a club. That way your buying every other round. I live in Tucson myself. Would love to get in on this but (there is the but) I got some car issues that prevent it from being dependable on a drive to Phoenix at present. No Speedometer (possibly fix tommorow) due to pinion gear is shot. Amount of Fuel unknown at any given time, till Fuel Sender is replaced (Found a New on on Ebay from Kuwait of all places). My Rims are Embarrassing Slight Overheating Issue I have not gotten around to The Tranny makes some lovely accompanying noises going down the road, and I would hate for it to away from town. Once I get all that taken care of I am up for a Drive up to Phoenix some evening.
  18. For you Cali Folks, saw a Craigslist Ad for a Lot of Datsun Parts, used and nos. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/pts/1226984402.html
  19. The Mach I about had me bawling. Mine got stolen in Mass. back in 83. Ford Midnight Blue Metallic with Porsche Silver Blue striping. Original BOSS motor was gone when I bought it but it had a 302 Windsor and Class I B&M Shift Kit in the 3 Speed Auto that made it a fun car to drive. The worst part is, it was found 2 days later but I did not receive notification from the Storage Yard until over a Month later along with a huge storage bill so I signed the car over to pay the bill. Found out I could have sued the Boston Police Department for failure to notify but I had a 2 year limitation on that and found out 2 months beyond that date.:cursing: Oh Well, I have my B210.
  20. I love it. Engine Bay turned out how I had hoped mine would. Mine was an EPIC FAIL.
  21. I actually like the color, nice contrast for an engine bay. The paint where the Carb Gasket goes is a bit of a concern though on the Intake Manifold.
  22. It will be interesting when a Police Officer stops me. I DO hope he has a Warrant when he does, otherwise it all becomes very interesting.
  23. Remove Radiator Cap - Drive Replacement Vehicle under new radiator Cap. Take 1 $5.00 Bosch Relay, some spare wire laying around. Use positive coil wire from Ignition activate the Relay. Route power directly from Battery to Positive Terminal of the Coil = 48K Volt Spark via Bosch Relay. Better Idle, More Power - Improved Gas Mileage. Not recommended with coils that came with a Ballast Resistor, as these are not HEI Coils and may overheat. MSD Blaster 2 works well for this though ($40.00) 2nd - Purchase Rebuilt 89-92 Maxima Alternator off Ebay (40.00), swap out the pulley, get the proper connector for $5.00 and you have 90 AMPs instead of 50 AMPs. Now you can run that stereo.
  24. My Fuel Sending Unit works, the float is shot. I have hunted for a new B210 sending unit on the web to no avail. Unable to locate any new neoprene floats. Trying to adapt a Brass Float would be a gold plated bitch. I thought about purchasing a Z Sending Unit and Bending the arm to the proper shape, but that would be a $100 experiment. Not able to locate any Round Cork here in Tucson that I could possible trim to work or even a block of cork. It would be nice to know how much gas I have left at a given moment. Mileage counting does not work, as the Speedometer Pinion Gear on my Tranny is broken.
