  1. Interesting development... Senior analyst at work drops his two week notice, I come back from vacation and figure out I have a new schedule, Fri-Sun 14 hour shift, Mon 12 hour shift. And I get my weekend differential back. Moar datsun monies > more play time?

  2. Sharing the info I gathered. Got an email back from Venolia about having some forged pistons made. $92 each, no rings or pins for 76-78mm pistons. If you send in an old piston they will match the pin and ring gaps exactly and you can get stock replacement rings and pins. The price isn't bad for forged, but I'll stick with stock till they break. That's $400 I get to spend on other goodies :)
  3. I know you already have your pistons and have them coated, but I figured I would share the information I got back on having some custom forgies made. With a bore of 76-78mm Venolia will make custom forged pistons for $92 each. This does not include the rings or pins, but if you send them a stock piston they will match the pin size and you can get stock replacement pins and rings for 76-77mm pistons. Keep up the good work :)
  4. Wow... That's amazing. Now you have a goal to beat :) So are you still planning on EFI? I keep thinking about it cause bog bros will make either a carb manifold for R1s or an EFI manifold for the same price. Just slightly intimidated by megasquirt, but I've been researching that more as well.
  5. I have no idea, found a local shop that can build me one finally so I'll probably go that route with my next check. till then I'm going to wrap it thick rubber and hope it holds :P
  6. I've gathered a lot of parts but been too busy/lazy to do work. On the 12th my new radiator comes in but this weekend I should have some updates installing my new matchbox and alternator mount. Oh, also new water pump. Lets hope it all goes as planned so I can have this back on the road tuesday and finally be rid of the autotragic oldsmobile...
  7. Go with carbon fiber altezzas for the true ricer look :poke: Just kidding Mrbig. I love your truck no matter what you do to it. However, I think it needs a lot moar hello kitty...
  8. I was rich this morning, then new radiator, hoses, wires for matchbox, and other misc things for the 620 made me broke... Atleast I got beer :)

not too shabby, but i remember ur truck now.... i was first to comment in it !

  9. I have just the tool for that! Thanks for reminding me. It came in the mail right before I moved and I packed it away, now to dig through boxes :P
  10. Lol, I meant the restore will be slow. the 620 takes priority until it is back on the road, then the B210 work really starts. The PO said this engine was imported and swapped in and this combo (H89 + A15) came in the C120-C22 vans. I have a "Nissan" notched rocker cover that is from a C22 van, so it is probably a later A15. I've looked it over a good bit now and I'm really thinking I should pull the head, rering the pistons, and replace all of the bearings and seals so I have a fresh start. This engine hasn't ran in over 4 years and the only reason I was given was that the PO before the ratsun member I purchased it from couldn't get it to idle. Supposedly it would rev but it never idled. The only things left to purchase are fuel hose, fluids, and rings/bearings if I tear it down. I don't know what size hose I need but the stock fuel hose is all rotten. Figure I'll cut some off and take it to the parts store with me to figure out the size.
  11. Reference for when I get home. 25060 H5000 - $30.51 Fuel gauge sending unit for the B210. Gotta love when you can still get parts from the dealer
  12. Every time there is an update to this thread my work computer screams in pain at it gets hit by the huge wall of photos. We need more pic heavy threads around here :)
  13. He shoulda done what he wanted then bitched at us for not liking it. That makes a lot more sense than doing what someone else wants :fu:
  14. Love the coloer. I'm guessing that's a 72-73 corona bumper? Looks about right Might be a nice option for a better looking bumper than these horrible park benches.
  15. My eyes are about to bleed... Quarterly internal access audit ftl!

  16. I'm just jelly. You're truck is probably a good 2-2.5 inches lower than mine on 195/50/15s :P It looks amazing down that low. I still want to see your truck next to farmer's. Battle of the low :)
  17. Goldfish's truck looks like a monster truck beside yours... Both need moar lowar.
  18. It's ok mrbig, I like the amber too. Just like the red more...
  19. D'oh yea, I think you mentioned that on the 1200 forum :P I got mixed up because the 1200 wiki says 9:1, a thread I found said just under 9.5:1 and others are saying 8.5:1. Maybe there are differences between US and Non-US engines? According to the engine setup and the notched Nissan rocker cover, I have an A15 from a C120 or C22, not a US A15 from a B310.
  20. Thanks, I'll take a look. If the dish is in the 6-10 range that will probably work.
  21. Well, with all the B210/210s showing up lately, maybe it's time we got a little more A-series info over here. I'm looking for piston options to achieve 8.2-8.7:1 CR in the A15. Growing up around budget hondas and wanting boost, the first thing I thought of was Vitaras, so here is the info I found: Using the information from summitracing: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/uem-3414h-1-0mm/overview/ I'm coming up with somewhere around 7.2:1 with a 0.8mm headgasket thickness for vitara pistons. (This could be remedied by decking the head, but vitaras are only available in 75-76mm, so if your cylinders need a bore you're SOL.) Using the same calculator and 1mm deck clearance with the A15 piston information from summit gets me 9.46:1 using 1.2mm head gasket thickness. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/uem-9083-1-0mm/overview/ That's all copied over from my post on the 1200 siteexcept for what is in parenthesis. I've also contacted a custom piston builder, but with the mild goals I have for my build, I prefer not to spend a small fortune on the slugs. So now I'm looking for 76.5-77mm slugs that will get me to my ~8.5:1 CR goal. The specs I requested from the forged piston company are: 76.5mm bore 19mm pin diameter (press fit) 30mm compression height 12cc dish (stock is 6.5cc) two valve reliefs 1.5, 1.5, 4mm ring gaps. These are basicly stock pistons .5mm over. With a 1mm squished height head gasket I should be right in my range. I'll update if I get a price back.
  22. Seriously Thinking about picking up a kia sportage as a beater and eventual donor for the 620. FE3 620? Why not :P

do you really wanna say its KIA powered?

LOL! The FE3 is a great engine and super cheap though :P You can get 300-350hp on stock internals o.O

    4. jrock4224

      jrock4224

the fe3 is a great swap but like adam I could never say my b was kia powered....so I been holding out for a 1.8 dohc miata and tranny for it ...im bifg in motoir and brand matching

  23. I'm not really sure which of these threads will be your build thread but I figured I would try to help. Just passing along the same info I was given when I got my B210 and was completely lost. Take off the rocker/valve cover and take a picture of the codes stamped on the head by the rocker arms. Looking at the 1200 wiki (most things A-series are found there), I think you should have the H77 head. Its a regular oval port head that is decent and will allow you to fit aftermarket dual carb setups easily down the road, or will give you massive headaches when you try to explain the manifold you need to a fabricator... Sadly we both live down south and most of the fabricators around here would rather try to talk us into swapping in a v8 that building parts for our little A's. In another thread you wanted to make 100-120hp. The easiest way to do that is forced induction, but that requires a lot of research. Look at the 1200 wiki for a while and try to get a solid understanding of what the project will take. If you get lost ask more questions. Biggest thing with a limited budget is don't buy anything you don't need until you are sure you are going to use it. Here's a link to the 1200 wiki: http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=Datsun_1200_encyclopedia The forum there is very helpful and has a lot of info on the A-series engines as well.
  24. More info: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/11154-daves-new-510-project-l-boosten/ Looks like a company named engine air made a turbo kit and pressurized box for the L series.
  25. This is the closest thing I know of: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/39698-my-l16-draw-through-turbo-setuphaving-issues-help/page-3
