I received a text message from my friend/ former boss at NAPA last night. My engine for this truck is in his Garage,& he's been putting it together. the head is on,& it's ready for the oil pan, which I need to clean& paint first, then we can install the Nissan Motorsport L4 cam, lash pads, along with the timing components. it's finally getting close to being done.

Thanks going out to Shawn Drawdy, & Randy Latuska ! For the first time in who knows how many years,my 521 has the rear window, & drivers door window in it. The story I was told from the previous owner, was that some neighborhood kids had taken a shot at it,& managed to take out both Windows. I have no idea how long it has sat that way,but it was like that when I found it up in the clearing in that old logging area. no more hiding my truck under a tarp!

Sounds good. I hope to be posting a "schedule " of when we should be arriving at the various meeting up points soon.

Denmark Boy & I (Loren O. ) are organizing a Caravan to the Blue Lake Datsun Show, August 9th. the idea is to make it a nice cruise along the scenic route, take photo ops, & have a good time. (were not hurrying, so not taking the freeway). Denmark Boy's group will be heading out from Eugene, driving down 99 through Silverton, Woodburn ,etc,& meeting up with Me,& hopefully other people in Canby. We will then continue on 99 to Oregon City, where we can meet up with more people at Oregon City Shopping Center, or Clackamette Park. From there, we will continue on 99/ Mcloughlin ,possibly taking River Road into Milwaukie, where we can meet up with more people, then head up to 82nd,possibly meet up with more people at King Road, Or Johnson Creek (Fred Meyer maybe?). From that point we will head up 82nd,to IKEA near the airport, where we will meet up with the group that usually meets there, & head up to Blue Lake. we will be posting an approximate schedule we will be at the meeting points soon. your input on this is welcome ,so feel free to comment. all are welcome to join us.

I have had that same thought about that vintage trailer ,every time I have looked at this picture. I want a vintage travel trailer to tow behind my truck.

yeah, that rust hole,& the one in the bed floor, by the tailgate had me worried. I almost didn't buy this truck because of it. That's actually the main reason the truck is at Shawn's place. He's going to weld some patch panels in, since I don't weld.

I got to go over & do a little work on my truck this weekend. I am still waiting on a few things for my engine to be finished, so I couldn't do to much to the truck. I can hardly wait to get the engine in, get the truck lowered, & drive it!

Rick, I am curious which NAPA store you were at. I am a former NAPA parts counter guy ,and I can tell you for certain that that kind of treatment of customers, especially if she used the language you described, would not be tolerated in any of the stores I know of !

here's a pic of my canopy. I don't remember what it's made of, but it has (rotted) wood paneling inside, that I'm going to have to redo before I can camp in it.

I realize this is more a 620 related thread, but I own a '72 521 that I would like to build in a similar style. do any of you know where I can get the flares, spoiler & visor?

I like your camper ! I would like one that looks more period correct than the one I have, but I like the look of mine also.

For ideas on the camper part of this little gem, there are several pages on facebook devoted to older rv's & trailers. there is also a show on GAC called "Flippin' RV's " , that's more vintage trailer related, but some of the things they do may be applicable to your motorhome. nice score!
