Gasoline is about $4.80 / $5.30 An average home cost about $959,400 The weight of the average woman 170 lbs The cost of a pair of Levis about $60.00 / $80.00 The cost of a pizza is about $20.00 - $2.50 a slice Have something to add? datzenmike
I do!!! Vegas and Pintos the biggest POS ever made were on the road. Unleaded gas and de-tuned muscle cars. I was working for GM painting truck boxes. I remember my first new car in 1970, a Dodge Dart. Gas was 32 cents an Imperial gallon for premium (under 8 cents a liter) a fill up, 15 gallons, was about $5. A 24 was $5.50. (gas and beer prices were all you really needed to know) Lee jeans were $5. By '75 things had definitely gone up. Vans were all the rage. "Keep on truckin' " and "If the vans a rockin' don't bother knocking' were common expressions. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
340 4 speed. Had the deluxe interior, rally dash, AM radio, Sublime green paint (a $28 option back then), flat black hood and factory hood pins, black vinyl roof and black rear stripe. '70 was the first year for standard front disc brakes and Goodyear Pollyglass tires. Had it to just over a buck fifty several times. It's long gone but looked exactly like this one... Paid $3,200 CDN summer of '70. I lived in that car. Took it in for 1,200 mile check up in less than a week, dealership couldn't believe it. 1 Quote Link to comment
angliagt
You forgot to add that minimum wage was about $1.65 an hour, & Motel 6 was $6. I remember taking Meridian from Highway 99/I5 to Puyallup back when it was a 2 lane highway,& when the road to SIR was the same. Edited June 25 by angliagt 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
I had one briefly in the mid '70s. It rode like a boat, well I should say like a larger car, bit soft and it was one of the most gutless cars I have ever drove. I think there was a pinto with a Capri V6 engine? It went really well. 1 Quote Link to comment

I figured if I buy them they stay home and not cross the border. Levis 501s are Egypt and the cheaper ones Cambodia which is Communist. I have Roundhouse Brand overalls and soem of their pants if you get the size correct(lots of shirkage) which are USA from their website. retail could be offshorered ones. https://www.round-house.com/ 1 Quote Link to comment
MachineMan
The example I gave was a "Domestic Product", made with "Domestic Materials". Your examples are not, in any way, a fair comparison. And a single holiday, for a select group of people is also not a fair comparison. I think you entirely missed the point of this thread. 1 Quote Link to comment
