Labubre
If LSD is stock, what oil should i use? Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
No stock LSD. Likely from a Subaru, but made by the same company, Fuji Heavy Industries. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Anything is possible though I have never heard it mentioned. '90s Subaru had H-165 with LSD usually in 4.11 ratio. Could have been swapped. Previous owner may have welded it up. How are you determining that it might have an LSD?? I would drain and take the back cover off or perhaps a look through the fill hole with a bore scope or flash light? Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Spin one tire and if the other cannot be spun the opposite direction, it's an LSD. You need to use oil with friction modifier in it, or get some friction modifier and add to the gear oil. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Could still be welded 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Yes R-160 I was thinking of the H-165 in my 710. I believe that at one time Nissan owned some stock in Fuji Heavy Industries as did Toyota, Mazda and maybe others. Not much sense each car maker re-inventing the wheel when needing a differential or transmission. JATCO automatics are also shared over several car makers also. 1 Quote Link to comment
Labubre
That the feedback from my friend that is a mechanic and former nissan dealer in th 80's He also did a "race" start and from the way rear wheel entered in motion he also told me so He also check that once the car lifted up Perhaps a sss option? datzenmike
An LSD is more for poor traction conditions as in mud and snow. Traction isn't much of a problem racing and additionally, the L series do not make much more than 100 hp. I doubt it's a coupe option. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Option? No, but definitely could be purchased at the Nissan/Datsun dealer. A dealer could have installed it from new, before the car was sold. Back then, there were no factory installed options, aside from some minor trim and maybe decals. 1 Quote Link to comment

Perhaps a reference will be mentionned Spinning wheels off the ground OR pull diff & rear cover for visual..............only ways I know to test for LSD. I Have never heard of an LSD option, but as mentioned above, could have been installed any time in its life! The early USA spec 1980's Subbie factory optional LSD's all had a 2x3 sticker on the rear plate that clearly said "LSD". If your diff is typical dirty grungy & no sticker, than NOT likely a factory Subbie LSD diff................?? 1 Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
If it's a Subi LSD both rear wheels will spin the same way and if you have your buddy hold one wheel from spinning you can grab the other and spin it independently. The break away is really low on them but it's a awesome upgrade. 2 Quote Link to comment
